Thanh Tinh Chay Restaurant

Easily one of the best vegetarian/vegan restaurants I have EVER been to. The vegan beef pho, fried rice w/ pineapples, spring rolls, banh mi, even the infused water were all house made, healthy, and mind-blowingly DELICIOUS. I can’t say enough good things about the food, the warm friendly service, and the overall experience. Definitely lives up to the hype as one of the best restaurants in the USA. MUST MUST go when in San Diego.

Tonight was our first time coming here and we had a wonderful experience. I haven't eaten meat in 10 years and have been on a gluten free diet since being diagnosed with celiac disease 5 years ago, so it has been many years since I've been able to go to a restaurant and be able to eat whatever I want on the menu. We spent about 20 minutes looking at the menu before we ordered because there was 200+ items on the menu and everything looked so good. I got the duck wonton soup, my boyfriend got Helen's buns, and then we shared Helen's tempura shrimp. All were very good, but our favorite was the tempura shrimp, it was amazing. It's been years since I've been able to eat anything fried, 4 hours later and I'm still raving to my boyfriend about how good it was. The servers were very kind and helpful as well. It's hard eating out due to my dietary restrictions, so I can't tell you how much I appreciate that all of the dishes are 100% gluten free and vegan. We can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu!

So incredible! Both times I’ve gone the food has been excellent. The hainanese chicken rice was insane. So were the helen rice balls with pork belly and helen’s pancakes. Every detail is so thought out, even the water is delicious. They infuse it and gave us desserts. Loved the cheesecake the most. This is going into our heavy rotation. Dietary restrictions: Vegan and gluten free.

We used to go here a couple years ago when prices were normal…not sure what reality you live in to charge people $20-$30 for small portion rice / noodle dishes or a single banh mi with a straight face. Their small wonton soup for example is $22, I mean this is insane. They’ll give you some speech about organic/local ingredients - like other vegan restaurants aren’t already doing this and charging way less - but really all they’ve done is just tripled or quadrupled their prices in the last 2-3 years with zero change to their restaurant or food - that’s greedy. Save yourself A LOT of money and go to Purple Mint (across the street, amazing and friendly), Loving Hut (on El Cajon Blvd, great menu options, good prices), or order from Saigon Vegan (amazing!). All are vegan and have prices a fraction of this place and the vegan food is as good and even better in most cases, and just as fresh. P.S. if you question the price or look shocked about it when you’re there, they’ll give you a tiny free cup of coconut dessert as a thank you for staying and paying their outrageous prices lol, thanks? Can’t believe you all are giving 5 stars and paying these prices

Wwaaaawww what an incredible restaurant so blessed to have tried it.. team amazing very welcoming offering drinks and deserts.. food is just delicious, the presentation and the menu is huge.. all vegan!

what a fantastic little jewel this place is. The menu was buried and looked delicious. The ingredients are organic there’s no gluten everything from the water. They serve to the tea is made for health. The owner was visiting and she’s a nurse and believes that people should have good nutrition, most of the people in the restaurant were Vietnamese and that says something to me because it taste very authentic. I don’t know how she does it but you’ve got to go see the magic.

The best vegan meal I’ve had! The owner, Helen, personally greeted us and shared her story. The entire staff was attentive and kind! Over the course of my meal, I noticed that several regulars were welcomed and treated like family. Helen and her staff really go the extra mile. I loved Helen’s chicken lettuce wraps and the vegan creme brûlée. I will definitely be back!

Super great food with a fantastic array of options. Customer service is top notch h with full explanation on how the food is made. Everything was tasty and guilt free. And yes, the water really is good!

Super good food! Took the whole family here and wow! Everything was prepared fresh. Service was 10 out of 10. They even gave us some dessert to try. Highly recommend checking this place out.
