Dive deeper into Thai cuisine beyond Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles and get the Hot Pepper Garlic (E7) and add cilantro and basil at heat level 3. You won’t be disappointed. Wonton soup is also of good quality. Having come from Seattle where I had the luxury of eating some very authentic Asian cuisines this place nailed a dish that, while simple, most restaurants get wrong. This was my first visit and it will be the first of many to come.
Great food and service. Now a staple of my lunch choices.
Very authentic Thai food experience!
Overall not impressed. I went here this afternoon after reading some reviews of “best Thai in Cincinnati”. I disagree, lol. I’m a travel nurse with hometown of Detroit (best food from all ethnicities anywhere!!! I said what I said!!) and I’ve been cross country in the past 2 years. This place is sub par at best. I got the basil stir fry. The onions in my dish were old and tough like the dried outer layer of an onion that needs to be peeled. The sauce ended up being a sweet “soup or broth” after a 10 min ride home. I asked for the dish to be made with shrimp and I’d pay extra for chicken. They opted for the cheaper out and gave me all chicken with 4 shrimp for the extra $2 I paid. I was willing to pay extra for the shrimp AND the chicken but maybe it was just a misunderstanding?? I counted 2-3 small pieces of basil which is something I really look for in this dish. The flavor was meh…a bit too sweet for me and no heat, even though I requested a level 2 spice. Don’t get me wrong, it’s edible but not a place I’d return to. I also paid $6.50 for 2 egg rolls. I’ve had better $1.25 egg rolls at many Chinese restaurants. The steamed rice was great…lol smh.
We went for lunch and had the crispy chicken pad Thai and vegetable green curry. The food came out quickly. Both dishes were delicious! The curry had a ton of veggies and enough spice to get my eyes watering a bit (ordered 4 out of 5 spice level).
Amazing. Great food. Great value. Careful with the spice level. It ramps up quick.
Good food, service was ok.. Closes early on Saturday 8:00 p.m.
Let me start by saying I’ve been eating here consistently for over 5 years. I have NEVER had a bad meal. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu, I’ve never been disappointed!!! The owner works every day to make this restaurant what it is and it’s really amazing. I’m always greeted with a big smile and great conversation. The owner is originally from Thailand and the food is truly authentic and delicious. When it comes to Thai food, I’ve been all over the country, no one does it better than Thaicoon kitchen. - Phillips
