Tang Bar delivers a surprisingly sophisticated experience within the bustling mall environment. The unique atmosphere sets it apart, offering a welcome respite from the typical retail setting. The quality of both food and service exceeded expectations and warrants a revisit.
The build-your-own-bowl concept with the option of both mushroom and pickled veggie broths was unique and delicious. The broth was rich and flavorful, and the options for meats and vegetables were abundant and fresh. I highly recommend trying the hot pot at Tang Bar. It's a five-star experience that will leave your taste buds satisfied and your belly full. Don't miss out on this gem of Tang Bar! It used to be the best Ma La Tang until Zhang Liang Ma La Tang opened in San Mateo...
Alia, new cashier slowest cashier ever! Line formed 30ppl and not moving. No helper. Poor management and training. Thawed frozen meat. Over priced
Love the concept of choose your own ingredients for the sichuan hot pot. I liked my pickled cabbage soup.
It was terrible, I got a rubber in my food. I was hungry and didn't have time to argue, so I just ate it. The next day ,my stomach uncomfortable.
This style of food is all the rage recently. food is decent but slightly overpriced, especially when it's costed by weight
tl;dr: good but wouldn't line up for it, I appreciate that it is easy to access though Another malatang spot but one that's closer to San Francisco downtown than the south bay. I enjoyed the food and the plethora of choices but the wait was quite long (about 30 mins or more after we had already placed the order) and you had to get in line even before that to pick your food items, and hover over people to get a table. I didn't enjoy the aspects of getting a seat, it seemed like a lot of effort for what you get, basically a fast casual meal. You can load up on the food to share or get your own bowl which I did, but I saw loads of other customers getting bowls to share and containers for leftovers! It is easy to go a little crazy so approaching the food choices with restraint is what I would caution (not just to manage your portions but also your eventual price point). It's probably most worth it to help yourself to the meat options, especially since they have wagyu slices available. I also liked that they had a large variety of vegetables and frozen fish ball items! I enjoyed my soup choice as well (the sour vegetable one) though I think the spicy options can be quite intense so approach with caution. With its location in the mall, parking is easy enough, and the restaurant also has a very prominent spot across from the food court. I hopped over to the food court afterwards for dessert too!
