Tamales yum, but these will disappoint. Made with Masa Harina, a processed powdered corn product created to streamline tamales for the home. Yes instant tamales, rarely are the instant option better than the old school method, this is not a exception to that rule. The green chili and the enchilada sauce both appear to come from a can.
Solid. Reliable. Consistent. Great people. Can't ask for much else.
I love a good tamale. But that's not what I found here. A truly authentic tamale is made with masa. There is a labor saving alternative called (Masa Harina). Masa Harina is a masa intended for long-term storage and to reduce labor income compiling a tamale. It is a processed powdered corn product normally used in homes to replicate the more labor intensive product. My lunch was inexpensive two tamales and a enchilada under 10 bucks. But the quality was definitely left in question. I can't confirm that I'm going to guess that the enchiladas sauce was from a can. The green chili May have also been from a can It was missing any evidence of protein. And definitely showed over processing.
Legit little taco/burrito place! Great food and prices…just wish they were open later!
