These folks decided to double the restaurants capacity for Valentine’s Day. We had a reservation at 9:15, we were sat down at around 10:00. They ran out of room at the actual restaurant so they set up rows of foldable plastic tables and chairs in the club area, where all the windows are open, so we are exposed to the LA night, dressed as if we were going to dine inside, it’s cold. We ordered our food, 2 soups, 1 entree, 3 rolls, a bottle of sake. Soups and entree take 40 minutes to roll out. It’s 11, my date is freezing, I’m freezing, by 11:20 we still don’t have our food. Had enough by 11:30 and left. They tried to appease us by taking the sushi we didn’t even get the chance to touch off the bill. I would give 1 starts for management of the situation, the server saved it enough to make it 2. I’m sorry but this was out of control, you cannot just sit people outside in the cold when they came dressed to dine in. You knew this was going to be a problem before it was a problem. Next time call me 4 hours before (you already had confirmations) tell me you are over booked, give me my deposit back and let me plan my life accordingly. Not recommended.

Got reservations for Valentine’s Day and it cost $15 deposit per person might I add. We also paid for valet which was $12. We got seated on these makeshift tables and it was apparent it was as way understaffed. We got sat and it took 30 mins and still no server. I asked a table next to us how long it took to get their food. They said 40 mins. After 30 mins of waiting I got up and asked is it normal to be waiting this long before even getting service. The bartender told me they added too many tables to accommodate and he would flag down a server to come see us. No server came. I flagged down a food runner and he told me they are way overbooked and understaffed. We ended up leaving because this level of service is honestly unacceptable. Just the pure fact that they decided to add a ridiculous amount of tables without the proper amount of staff truly shows they do not care about the experience or service. All they care about is the money. That’s all I needed to know about this place and I will never return. Why add that many extra tables without the proper amount of staff to accommodate. I legit left and went to Pink’s hotdogs and saw patroons that were there and also left. Would it have been a better experience not on Valentine’s day? I guess we will never know. Robbed of $42 and robbed of a proper Valentine’s date. Boooooooo.

I have never experienced a more wheels-fallen-off dining service than at Takami's St. Valentine's Day Massacre. Having parked in the nearby garage, in the building's lobby we saw firemen engaged in rescuing people from a stuck elevator, as we boarded a different elevator, which thankfully conveyed us to the 21st floor. It's too bad that we did not understand that the spectacle in the lobby was merely an omen of the misfortune which was yet to come. I had booked a 7 PM reservation the previous week, paying a $30 deposit for my wife and I. But it seems that having a "reservation" in no way implies that this restaurant has the capacity to adequately serve everyone who has one, judging by the patron-to-server ratio I observed, I doubt that there was any limit whatsoever to the number of reservations which Takami was willing to accept for that evening. I can only attribute the egregious overbooking to absolute GREED on the part of Takami's ownership or management. I had booked our table in the Elevate Lounge section of the restaurant, having seen photos of the picturesque views over DTLA. The view was indeed nice, but what I didn't know beforehand was that Elevate is an OPEN AIR LOUNGE, which means that in mid-February it is FREEZING COLD. I pretty quickly regretted opting for the lounge, and my wife went back to the hostess to inquire about whether we could move the main restaurant where it was warmer, but was told it would probably be another hour wait, so we decided to soldier on in the lounge. After being seated, it took about 40 shivering minutes for our order to be taken by the server. In about another 40 minutes we were served our main course. Then 15 minutes later we received one of our two appetizers along with the drinks we had ordered over an hour ago. After another 15 minutes they kindly brought the second appetizer we had ordered so long ago. The food was OK pedestrian Japanese fare - I found the quality acceptable and the prices were not out of line. I don't blame the employees for all the problems. They seemed to be working hard to get through a very difficult night. I won't go through all the details of trying to get the check and paying it, but let it suffice to say that we were on the 21st floor for well over two and a half hours before we could leave. As we left late in the nine o'clock hour, there was an even bigger queue of patrons trying to get seated. I felt sorry for them, knowing that things would be even worse for them. My parting thought is: SHAME on the management of Takami Sushi. Their greed and their indifference toward their guests' experience demonstrates their utter incompetence, and their absolute inability to manage ANY kind of business.

I went to this restaurant on Valentine's Day and... a group of people were stuck inside the elevator as we walked in. After we were seated in makeshift tables with foldable chairs in the neighboring elevate lounge, we waited an hour and a half before even receiving our drinks, and nearly two hours before receiving food. When we did receive our food, we got our main dish first without the appetizers and then when we asked for the check, it took nearly 20 minutes and us walking up to the front just to be noticed. Would. not. recommend.

Came here for Valentine’s Day and was such a horrific experience. We got seated in the over flow area of the nightclub with folding chairs and a makeshift table. The heaters were practically nonexistent and it was freezing. We originally wanted to order the omakase menu but didn’t want to be in an area where we could not enjoy ourselves so I asked the hostess to move us to somewhere more comfortable and warm. We only ended up getting moved within the same area of the nightclub closer to the bar. We ended up deciding to order off the regular menu as we were already upset at this point. When our food arrived it was very sloppy, tasteless and nothing to hype over. The kitchen was spitting food out so quickly it wasn’t even done well. Our rice was falling off of our rolls as it wasn’t even packed together. Our drinks didn’t arrive until half way done. Our appetizers came at the end and they forgot about part of our order. Following this, I overheard our server talking to another table saying he had around 30 tables. Eventually we waved down our server, received our cheque and left as soon as possible. As a previous server in a restaurant I understand holidays can be stressful for establishments but this was disgracefully handled by management and owners and they should have been better prepared and properly staffed. We will never be returning here!!

Absolutely gorgeous high rise views and beautiful interior as well. We came in for lunch and sat on the patio overlooking the building beside that has a lovely garden, with huge windows separating us from the chilly winds. I liked our sushi enough, but it definitely wasn't my favorite, unfortunately. Of the items we ordered, I enjoyed the Sashimi feast roll the most which was piled in chunked variety of fishies and the miso soup was definitely on par. The spicy tuna crispy rice was my least favorite part... but my tea came in a very cute pot. Price was definitely too high to return but the views made it a great one time date with the hubby.

Restaurant is absolutely tasty with breathtaking views and great service. Went here for Christmas Day brunch with some friends. Sushi and sashimi were of high quality and were delicious. Service was incredibly respectful and prompt. Our waiter made great recommendations on what dishes to get. As far as atmosphere, you have an excellent view of downtown LA from here and great for pictures. Food - 15/20 Service - 9/10 Atmosphere - 9/10 Total - 33/40
