I hate writing bad reviews but I’m hoping someone in the Taco Bob org will read this. I’ve eaten a Taco Boy several times over the years and was never a big fan hit thought I’d give it another try. I was delighted to see more vegan item as on the menu and order the jackfruit carnitas taco. Anyone who has taken more than 2 minutes to learn about cooking with jackfruit knows there are two kinds offered in cans: young jackfruit in brine and ripe jackfruit in syrup. The former is used for savory dishes the other is dessert. Taco Boy uses the latter. Sickeningly sweet and inedible. The waitress seemed marginally interested in hearing about the issue. The rice and beans were so over salted they were nearly inedible. Overall one of the worst meals I’ve ever been served. Vegetarian options: Do not order the jackfruit tacos.

I’ve been eating at Taco Boy for 10 years but I won’t be going back unless there are major changes. The service and food used to be great but it has gone way downhill. It took us an hour to get our food. The old guacamole recipe was one of the best items, now it is filled with chunks of avocado and just average. The street corn was another favorite of our friends and family and it is no longer on the menu. Many of the tacos have changed, either gone from the menu or have had the recipe altered. The carnitas taco had a ton of barbecue sauce on it which made the whole taco just taste like barbecue sauce… The shrimp taco recipe also changed for the worse. A person at my table ordered a shrimp and crab quesadilla, there was no crab to be found inside. Maybe one shrimp total diced into tiny pieces for the whole quesadilla. The Al pastor quesadilla was also missing ingredients, no pineapple as was stated on the menu. This place used to be great and the parking lot would be full. It’s no surprise that lots of tables are now empty at lunchtime on the weekend.

Overall, it's not great! Not what I expected! I usually go to Folly Beach and figured I'd give this place a try. Honestly, it's not the best experience. Drinks took a while and are not good. (I was at the bar) Go somewhere else for a good margarita! If you are in a hurry, I definitely don't recommend it. Food is okay, better tacos elsewhere. Portions aren't great for the price.

Ice in my tequa shot. No salt. No lime. Strike one. Tortillas you almost could not tear they were so tough. Strike 2.The beans had no flavor whatsoever. Strike 3. I should have eaten my shoes instead of attempting the carne asada. It was dry, tough, and flavorless. Strike 4? On the up side, this would be a great place to bring people you don't like so you could torture them with the food!

Very disappointed in this location. Thought it would be as good as the Folly Beach location. The burritos were very dry and all we could taste was burnt cheese. The tortilla soup was just a bowl full full of tortilla strips. The guacamole had black chunks. It was a very expensive meal that we didn’t even enjoy.

I really liked the carne asada tacos. The perfect mix of the green garlic sauce, pico, and steak. Today I purchased 3 of what I thought would be my favorite tacos. What I was presented with was an unfamiliar serving of meat with pink ribbons of pickled onions. I did not like them. I removed the onions yet the bittersweet taste remained. Why would you take a perfect taco and ruin it? Of course, this is an opinion. One which people may not share. Maybe they like the pickled onions. I do not. Please return the carne asada taco to its rightful glory.
