We live down the street and often stop in for a coffee or a drink, but we will divert to new spots going forward. My wife’s family was in town and we got a few drinks and bites in the bar area and then made our way to the dining room for dinner. As our food was arriving, I popped open my laptop for an urgent email and our waitress immediately came over and told us there were no laptops allowed in the dining room. I felt bad for her because we had seen the short brunette manager ask our waitress to come up to us and the waitress definitely felt bad, as I was clearly just trying to get something out quickly, I wasn’t leisurely scrolling on my laptop with 3 other people at the dinner table. There were only a few other tables occupied, and it’s a hotel restaurant, so I wouldn’t say I was disturbing the “ambience”, but I then had to leave the dining area to send my email. As I left, the manager (who had sent over the waitress) came over and meekly asked “all okay?” instead of just addressing the issue. I totally understand if this is a policy of the restaurant but she showed such poor management skills in forcing the waitress to send her message and jeopardizing her tip instead of addressing herself, and then spent the rest of the time sending new people over to our table to clear, etc. while she chatted with staff because she didn’t have the courage to address us directly. I boxed my meal and took it home but, based on how it was handled, we won’t pop in for drinks anymore and my in-laws likely won’t be staying at the Hyatt anymore.

Went with a group of 7. Had to wait for whole party to arrive. Ambiance was so choice, could actually hear ourselves talking to one another unlike most nyc restaurants with a group. Food was fantastic. Had the cornbread, beets and shishito peppers

Service was okay, and the food was not great. Restaurant was surprisingly empty for Saturday at 6:30 PM, but the food took a while to come out. We ordered a cocktail, cornbread with honey butter, mushroom pizza, and the sweetbriar burger. - Cocktail was non memorable - The honey butter that came with the cornbread was the star of the show. - The burger was fine albeit messy -- my assumption is that the burger was assembled when the patty was still too hot because the sauce was loose and runny. If this is the normal, I would have appreciated extra napkins as a precaution. - The pizza was served to us raw. Even looking back at the photo, I don't know how it left the kitchen. This was the moment our hearts sank, and we asked the server to take it back. Our server was really apologetic when they realized that the pizza was still in fact raw. The manager came by to also apologize and ensure that it would be taken off the tab. When asked about everything else, I gave her my honest feedback about the burger, and she was defensive. The only thing they did to fix the night was offer to comp the raw pizza that we couldn't eat, and that's as far as the apology went. I tried to contact them the next day after I processed the situation, and we were left on read.

We visited for Thanksgiving dinner since we were in NY for the parade. Sweetbriar is an awesome place. The staff are so nice and helpful. It happened to be my wife's significant birthday, and they came to the table with two glasses of wine to celebrate. That was very thoughtful and much appreciated. Lastly, the food was the best part. Everything tasted amazing. I don't eat brussel sprouts at all, but the way they prepared them, I ate every single one. The proportions were more than enough. Thank you for making a great day even more amazing.
