Sweet Pea Café & Playhouse

Adorable children's play cafe. It has two separated sides. The cafe part is more adult oriented, whereas the play side is exactly what it sounds like. They've put so much effort and care into creating it. Lots of toys, and the themed buildings are so much fun.

Great business model. I dropped by because of my curiosity. Not sure if the staff is really trained with making good beverages. The drink I had I spent over $5 and it’s an average drink and I wish I had visited Second Cup. Cute place and good option for vegan community.

The kitchen staff attitude at this restaurant is horrible. We walked in just after 5:30 ordered our food took us a minute or two to figure out what we wanted and we’re kind of excited to get something here since we are vegan. We then proceeded to wait I even gave a decent tip in cash. All of a sudden, when the cashier handed the receipt to the chef in the kitchen, she said, where did this come from? Do you not see what time it is? Her attitude towards the cashier was absolutely horrendous. She then huff and puffed, and was all grumpy about having to make an order. I proceeded to ask for my money back and told her to cancel my order. Number one, you should not talk that way to your staff, especially in front of customers and especially in front of the customer that just ordered. No staff deserves to be treated that way so I will take my money and my business elsewhere from here on. They did offer to make the food for me, but I was worried that they were going to spit in it so I choose to have my money back and take it to a business that actually deserves my money and actually wants my money. Number two, Even though their hours are stated online as closing at six they said that their kitchen closed at 5:30. Nowhere is that stated, and they should change their hours. If the kitchen was closed, they should’ve told us that right when we walked in the door instead of acting the way that they did. Businesses like this need to treat their staff and customers better if they want to stay in business.

There were two VERY SKINNY gorillas when I went here, and I had to sit in a chair, bored out of my mind, and watch them fight, bugged up with the schlizor. Best ever. 10/10

The Sweet Pea has a cute play area, modelled after some old buildings. Thankfully the keep the numbers down in this area, because it isn't that large. All interactions with staff were very pleasant. Our group of 6 (4-adults + 2-young kids) had a nice table for us. But the other group was quite large, utilizing several tables end-to-end. Because the dining area isn't very large, it was like walking through an obstacle course, to get the cutlery & napkins when your food orders arrived at your table. Speaking of food...this is totally vegan food options. While I enjoy a pulled pork sandwich, the Jackfruit option was okay...but it lacked the flavor of the real-deal. The cheese on nan-bread sandwich was good. The Quesada my wife ordered was about 5-6 inches around. It seemed like a small kids meal. Walking to the Cafe side, I picked up a 500ml fruit drink in a square glass bottle. I was immediately informed, there was a $2.00 deposit!!! When expressing my surprise at that cost, the BIG shock was still coming. They wanted $13.50 for the 1-drink. Putting it back in the cooler, I opted for the $2.50 can of San Pellegrino instead. Yes, we all enjoyed the play area with our grandkids. Having said that, I'm uncertain ALL customers enjoy the total vegan offerings. In many restaurants, there are vegan & GF options available. But the final decision is up to the ownership/management group on these food options. From my viewpoint, I'm uncertain if a 2nd visit is in my future. For $13.50, I could definitely purchase a better beverage, and enjoy a couple of glasses with my wife.

Disorganized and overcrowded. Might as well be an unsupervised daycare.

Neat place for the kids.

Kids loved the play experience here! Set up as a "old fashioned street front" the kids are able to play in the shops. There is a very cute little coffee shop in the back of the store for parents to be able to sit down for a bit.
