Just walked across the street from my hotel to this nice looking bakery to purchase something to go. I was greeted and once I ordered, the lady informed me of the pet policy. I had my (6 pound)ESA inside a carrier on my shoulder and I asked her if I'm just ordering to-go is that ok. She kept saying she was just wanting to inform me of the policy (saying she just wanted me to know). There was never an answer to my question so I just said ok that's fine, I'll go. Chicago's cold-hearted "customer service" has gotten worse and worse by the year. I am a native now living in the state of Georgia for over 20 years and each time I return, I cannot wait to get back to happy, southern people with Southern hospitality. Response to owner: There was no willingness from your employee to help me. I asked if I could just purchase a muffin to go and the employee repeatedly recited the pet policy to me. I had zero intentions in sitting in your establishment because I had my ESA in her carrier. It is understandable that if a pet is not in a carrier and a customer wants service, they should be denied service. I was indirectly denied service because your employee would not answer my question nor would she sell me the item I ordered. Thank you for your response.

The mashed potatoes cupcakes were the cutest & most scrumptious ever

This use to be my favorite bakery for cakes. I have been a fan of this bakery (the Lincoln Park Location) since 2006-2007. Back, when you would walk into the Lincoln Park location and there would be cupcakes everywhere on the countertops . I am a long time customer. I was the biggest fan of their traditional yellow cake with buttercream. Now, I have to say that I have tasted a difference in quality. I know in another review comment, they said that it’s the same recipe, but I’m not convinced. I recently ordered 6 red velvet cupcakes and 6 inch chocolate cake with buttercream from the Streeterville location for my brother’s and cousin’s birthdays. It was not good to me and others who had it. The past few times that I’ve gone to either location, the cupcakes have just been okay or underwhelming. I will say that their confetti cookies, sugar cookies and krispy treats are divine. I cannot speak for the pies since I haven’t had those.

This place has good treats that will satisfy your sweet tooth. We picked up a couple different things that were decent and one that was awesome! The Banana Carmel Cabinet pudding I can't say enough good about! It's a very moist and tasty cupcake/bread pudding combination essentially. It's a yellow cake with banana slices, banana pudding, and caramel topping that is pretty epic! The cookie we got was good, one dessert magic cookie bar that good, a lemon bar that was ok...I didn't care for it but my wife thought it was ok, and the banana Carmel cabinet pudding was awesome. Give them a try and I think you'll find something that you like for sure...and they are very very nice when it comes to customer service so that's good a big plus.

This SMBs is the smaller one downtown by Northwestern. I used to be a big fan of the original one in Lincoln Park back in the day so I thought I would try this one out when I happened to be near here. I've been to this location two times and both times were pretty unimpressive. The store and seating is smaller of course and it seemed like the selection of bakery items was smaller too. I have tried cookies and cupcakes on both occasions. The cookies were fine but the cupcakes seemed dry and not really fresh. The person waiting on me the last time I was there wasn't friendly and seemed to be bothered by questions. I probably will not return for any subsequent visits.

I am quite disappointed with my first try. I got lemon and snickerdoodle cupcakes and one sweet pie cookie. Everything is waaaaaaayyyy tooooo sweet for my taste. I actually felt sick and got a headache after finishing my lemon cupcake. I had a few nibbles of the other two items and am not sure if I want to finish them at all. The only great part at the store was that all staff were friendly and nice. That's the only reason I'm willing to give 3 stars instead of 1. Definitely not visiting again, but give it a try if you have a sweet tooth. It's not for me, but it seems many people like it that way.

Very friendly staff. Tried the cabinet banana pudding and lemon bar- top notch! Definitely recommended popping in if you are looking for a sweet treat.
