Had the afternoon tea today in the private room upstairs, stunning service, amazing tea selection (and I'm not even a big tea guy) tried them all except the green teas they offered as options... Split both a gentleman's and a classic afternoon tea, you WILL NOT be disappointed with either. And we would definitely recommend getting them both and having half and half if you're in a couple. Bit pricey but more than worth it. Loads of brilliant things on both dishes, lovely afternoon, would return and will be recommending.
I would just like to say I stopped here for a drink and something to eat this afternoon and had a bit of a problem after having major surgery and a stoma but the young lad who served me outside was a star he is a credit to your establishment wish I had got his name
Ordered poached eggs with toast and bacon. 20min later got scrambled eggs. Took another 20min to get my food and still not right. Bacon lukewarm as were the eggs.
Set menu portions are smaller than you would expect and those dishes aren't available on the à la carte menu. One of the party had veal cheeks which were apparently very good, the rest of us had fish and whilst well cooked, we all felt dishes as a whole were pretty average. Service was barely okay. I really don't need three different people asking me if everything is okay. At the end of the meal when we were in a hurry to leave for the theatre, I had to ask three times for the bill. The restaurant is clean and bright, but the bar downstairs is a little noisy.
Loved high tea. Great experience.
Nice enough bar linked to the globe I think there was staff training occurring during my visit. Table service was a bit slow. I could see my drinks on the bar it took an age for someone to bring them over.
