SusieCakes - Willow Glen

We usually go to Susie cakes and have had good experiences when eating cupcakes at the store but we placed an order for cupcakes for our engagement party and the experience was less than ideal. We ordered them a month in advance and went with their recommendations. The cupcakes were many hours late available for me to pick them up and the quality was horrible, folks at the party were asking if we home made them. We ended up calling them and they gave us a full refund. We hope to have a better experience next time.

Susy Cakes has the most delicious vanilla cupcakes, and their cream cheese frosting is perfection!! I love that their buttercream is not disgustingly sweet. I also got to try their orange cranberry cake slice and it was wonderful. The pumpkin cheesecake is delightfully silky and melt-in-your-mouth! I’ll definitely be back! (Also, the manager on shift today was really nice and gave me an extra slice of cheesecake on the house—that kind of kindness wins over any customer!)

I only had two requests; chocolate cake and aqua color. For some reason, the person that took the order over the phone decided to change the cake flavor to celebration. I had my own decorations... its disappointing. Double check your receipts even when the order was repeated to you I guess... it's what I was expected to do.

Its a cute cake shop in Willow Glen downtown. I absolutely loved their Pumpkin Spiced Cupcake… everything looked cute and delicious. Will definitely visit soon! Extra points for the courteous staff.

Have been a long time suzie cakes fan. But this time my experience was at the other end of the spectrum for sure. Had called in to pre order the key lime pie. Saw a line item for healthlyTeam on my receipt. This is an optional charge which they felt free to put on my card with my order without asking me if i wanted to contribute to their team's 'health insurance' cost. They took it off when I went in to pick up my order and asked them what that was for. But not cool that they felt free to put this on the customer without seeking approval. The key lime pie is a seasonal item that we'd ordered last year as well and loved. This time however the pie crust is super crumbly and unable to hold shape. It's like eating Graham cracker crumbs mixed in with pie filling. Like the pie was made by a leaner chef instead of at professional bakery. Had also ordered a couple of cupcakes. Strawberry, which is another seasonal item, and chocolate. The strawberry cupcake was dry, stale and crumbly. Unbelievable that suzie cakes would allow something like that to go out the door. The Safeway cupcakes taste better at 1/4 the price. Very disappointed with suzie cakes this time.
