We used to really enjoy going to this place, it was one of our local sushi spots. We kept in rotation, but after the last time, definitely avoiding this place. Plenty of other great spots without deceitful practices. I asked for wasabi and the hostess/waitress (and i believe manager) asked me wasabi paste or fresh wasabi? I looked at her quizzically, never been posed the question before and said fresh wasabi. The check comes and we’re charged $3.50 for it-we brought it to her attention and she absolutely refused to remove it. She never mentioned there was an extra charge and she knew that I thought it was one and the same. It was clear from her behavior and demeanor this is not the first time she’s pull this before. I understand it’s a nominal amount but based how intentionally and blatantly deceitful she was, we will not return. they also increased their prices recently and quite honestly for what you’re getting it’s really not worth it. Also, the rules always take a while to make even when you’re the only one in the restaurant. We put up with the slow service because it used to be reasonable priced for decent sushi and easily accessible but it’s just not worth it.
It's just not the hot spot it once was
I have been going to Sushi Rock for about 20 years. This place makes me think of small NY type of “hole in the wall” where you find the unexpected: THE best sushi in town. Hands down and hats off to this place food-wise. Their Sublime and Red Hot Chilly Pepper rolls are literally making me drool just writing about them. The atmosphere is simple and unpretentious, which makes the perfect spot for a no muss no fuss, fantastic sushi eating. It’s always on the chilly side in there so bring a shawl or something. Must.Eat.There. Parking: Depends what time you go and what day of the week it is. If can be as easy as finding a spot in front of the restaurant or as complicated as circling around couple times and still having to park a few streets over (usually for dinner or during the weekends)
Menus were filthy. Barely could read one of the entrees. Service was efficient and friendly. Food was delicious except the sashimi appetizer. Was off. The rest of the food was great. Tables were cleaned with a dirty cloth and you could see the dried resused water on the table.
