Swung in on a Sunday around noon. Great sushi made fresh before your eyes.
We had high expectations for this place since it had a 4.7 rating. The food and atmosphere did NOT live up to the rating. We ordered the beef and chicken bibimbap, and we were highly disappointed. The meat portions were chopped in tiny pieces. The beef was scarce and dry. The chicken was also scarce and dry. The only thing really good was the seaweed salad. The prices were a bit high for what you get. The service was fast and decent. There was major work going on, on the outside of the building at the time, so the look of the front of the restaurant was under major construction.
I came away very impressed with the quality of food and the service. The plating of the sushi was more than what you'd expect for the price. Tasted extremely fresh and had a warmth to it I don't experience in other sushi restaurants. The cost is extremely reasonable considering you're in downtown Cleveland and better than most similar restaurants. Order was ready within five minutes and rolled very well. Having the posters for playhouse square gives it a nice ambiance. Only negative was a table of family with three kids under seven years old but that's minor. I REALLY hope their location in Twinsburg because I live much closer but I'd travel to this one again!
Honestly Iv been going there since they first opened and if you scroll down you’ll see my original review. I was a regular who loved the previous managers (sweet asian lady) and Mark. Unfortunately I havnt seen them working there in long time and the service has been pretty much declining. There is no host and the waiters basically bounce around before someone walks up to help you. I had a few encounters with one particular waitress that has a horrible attitude and point blank rude. I had actually called earlier in the day to reserve a table because we were seeing a show at 7:30 at the Playhouse. That same rude waitress is the one that took the phone call earlier and told me that it was fully booked. We still walked in because we live across the street at 6:45 pm and there was only 2-3 tables occupied. We got seated and the waitress did not wait on us and actually left the restaurant and took a stroll outside and then eventually when I called over some older man that we got acknowledged. The waitress continued to serve a table right next to us chit chatting and ignored our table. Never have I ever come across such a Rude waitress and I guarantee you she will be the downfall of this restaurant . Anyways, we are a big group and you guys have lost loyal customers. The place has potential but it needs proper management and staff training on how to treat their customers.
I ordered takeout from Sushi En while I was on duty working Valet in Playhouse square. Since I was in a rush, I indecisively ordered one of the rolls. A man, presumably the manager, helped me go through the menu and express his favorites, and then added an additional roll at no extra cost. The food was amazing as always of course, and the service was even better!
The food was tasty and presentable. The staff was kind and welcoming. The Chicken Udon was very filling. The Sushi En was delicious with each bite and the Takoyaki was savory and yummy. Worth the trip.
The place itself has a nice atmosphere and the menu has several different cuisines. It was a mix of Japanese and Korean food which was nice to choose from. We got a couple sushi rolls and the beef bulgolgi. Everything tasted great!
This is a Tuna Roll from Sushi en Downtown. Pretty much un-edible if you consider yourself a sushi lover. Extremely sloppy and gross. We went here on New Year's Eve. I sent them these pictures and they offered to just replace the roll. Not worth it.
