I happened to be reading “Made in Chicago: Stories Behind 30 Great Hometown Bites” and realized I have tried almost everything in this book except for a handful of eats. The Jim Shoe was one that intrigued me because its made of 3 meats (corned beef, roast beef, gyro meat) on a sub roll with giardeneria, cheese, mayo and lettuce. So I decided to stop in Super Sub & Gyro in Marquette Park (and also Fat Johnnies for the other hometown eats I wanted to try - Ill have seperate write-up). First thing you will notice about this place is that it’s mainly for takeaway and is a very small shop, but they crank out a myriad of fatty, grilled and unctuous fast sandwiches (and other items). It was quite a treat to eat this very messy sando and is priced low that comes with fries and a pop. You can really taste the gyro and contrast of the corned beef and roast beef, with heat from giardeneria and dripping of cheese and mayo. This is definitely not a low calorie meal and will ruin any diet, be forewarned!! The staff was friendly and helpful with getting this meal served hot and fast. Well worth a try, get lots of napkins!!
