This roadside spot was a real discovery! I've had plenty of so-so teriyaki all over so cal, between the mediocre chain spots and the locally owned places that are phoning it in, I don't flinch when the meat is dry and the rice sub par. Despite the unassuming name, Super Bowl Express was a real revelation, the best fast food teriyaki I've had in ages. The meat was well prepared, tender and flavorful. The rice was great and they had fresh toppings to add upon request. I will be back again! Vegetarian options: Few Dietary restrictions: Rice, meat Parking: Free street. Kid-friendliness: Not really. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes but all the seats are backless stools.
best food in san clemente, hands down.
Food was delicious parking around back was not easy to find if your not familiar with area Parking: Some signs to alert customers of available parking for guests who are not familiar of location
This place has been around for probably 30 years, and is a staple in the local San Clemente community. It’s been under new ownership since COVID, but the food remains freshly made and delicious. I will warn you, parking is sparse and shared with the coffee shop next door. The place is easy to spot but if you’re heading south and crossing traffic, be prepared to wait. Inside, there’s a big menu with plenty of options and pictures of the options on the wall. As the name suggests, you can get various teriyaki rice bowls and other options, like spam musubi, which was just made and displayed on the counter. I typically order chicken or beef teriyaki bowls. Both are delicious. The meat is tender and flavorful. The sauce, green onions and topping really enhance the flavor. Overall, portions are decent and there’s a fair amount of meat for the price. The owner clearly takes pride in the business, and assured me the food was freshly cooked from his kitchen to me. Thanks for keeping this business around!
Amazing. Must visit spot in San Clemente.
Great food, but the place is small. One L-shaped table when eating there, but it's close enough to the beach where it's better to take to-go and enjoy the breeze. When I went, the chicken was a little bit better than the bulgogi beef. They also have spam masubi's, which are not on the menu. Small parking lot out back, can get packed during rush hour. Vegetarian options: They have a steamed veggies bowl and the egg rolls don't have meat.
Joo has an awesome restaurant with excellent food. This place is the real deal. I will be going back again and again.
