Love this place! Best vegan food in ATX.. Super chill environment with a retro atmosphere and awesome back patio for relaxing and kicking back! Parking: Small parking lot
I only ever came for the food. We had no idea they weren’t serving vegan food anymore which was a bummer. The drinks are alright, but super disappointed about the food.
There are not too many vegan restaurants in Austin despite its tagline being weird or hip or green. It’s still basically a 1980s meat loving crowd: tacos (pork), brisket and burgers. Sunny’s did its level best serving up vegan dishes and I’m sad to see it go. They told me they will keep a few vegan options from here on in but I’m super suspicious. How can you serve burgers and also vegan? Are they going to use two separate grills to separate the meat fat from plant based oils? How exactly will they achieve this? I’m thinking once they switch they’ll lose vegan customers for good like myself? ♀️
Dont come here if you looking for a pleasant atmosphere this place was dingy and smelled like mold. Most of the bar chairs are broken and couldn’t support me. The blond bar tender was extremely rude and basically fat shamed me for not being able to fit in the chair because it kept falling over so she kicked us out. Didn’t ask if I was okay or needed help she just thought I was drunk. Also didn’t know what a single tall drink was so kept charging us for a double.
Not only a friendly staff the food is absolutely wonderful. I tried all three of the special burgers (chicken, black garlic, and the hot stuff) and they were delicious!!! The real centerpiece of it all is the loaded fried which have a vegan spare ribs on top. If you ever need a bite please give this place a try!
Very relaxing backyard styled bar. Good people. Met the owner Mariette, he was very nice took care of me. He even gave me some local suggestions on some live music venues nearby. Parking: Free small lot in front
