I always went to Perilla for Pho in this neighborhood. They were not open today so I decided to try Sunflower. I did the right thing. Their food is impressive to me. Although the price for a pho is more expensive than Perilla, the quantities are much higher. The #1 (beef combination pho) is about $2 more, but you get lots of beefs (all kinds of beefs). I can barely finish it. Service is great. Bathroom is also much bigger and cleaner than Perilla.
So good food large space for breakfast and lunch
This is my absolute favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the city. (And I have been on a multi year quest for the best pho in SF, I consider it a sport). I’ve been at least 30 times by now over the years. Every dish I’ve tried has been EXCELLENT. One of my favorite features- they do a spicy Bun Bo Hue— but without pork! (I don’t eat pork) and so this is incredible. Their curry noodle soup is fantastic. 5 spice chicken everything is delicious. I also have a ritual before air travel of getting an order of BBQ Beef spring rolls with extra meat and taking them with me to the airport. It is the best pre-travel meal ever- light and filling and wonderful. The staff are incredibly sweet and kind. I’ve taken so many friends here and it’s always a win. I love this place so much! Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs, wide entrance. Double doors though.
Wow what an amazing spot. The pho is some of the best I've had.
As of 03/05/2024: Was greeted and seated immediately upon entering. I ordered the BBQ Beef spring rolls ($12). Let me tell you- this is the best variant of spring roll I have ever had. The beef in the rolls was juicy, tender, and very flavorful. As a main dish, I went with the #1 Beef Combo pho ($16). It was pretty good. Very good serving of different cuts of beef. I was pleasantly surprised by the thick cuts of brisket that were included. The broth was definitely cardamom and coriander- biased. It was a struggle to finish the bowl of pho, as they are very generous with the portion size. 4.25 ⭐️for pho, 5 ⭐️for the BBQ Beef rolls, 5⭐️ for service.
I ordered pha , poor quality meat and ingredients.
We had a really good dinner. The five spice chicken was flavorful and the portion size was good. Everything was fine until it got busy. They only have one guy handling take out orders, waiting and bussing tables. With a full restaurant, we were completely ignored. We were done with our meals and it took no fewer than 30 minutes to deliver the check. It is brutally unfair to have just one guy doing everything for the front of house. And it is doubly unfair for customers. The tables on both sides of us were grumbling as well. The food was dirt cheap, which was nice.
I liked this place. All my dishes were fresh, and the beverages weren't too sweet, they made everything just the right way. I will be back again.
