Sumiao Hunan Kitchen

Heerlijk gegeten bij dit Chinese restaurant tijdens ons verblijf in Boston in de Kendall buurt. Het was lastig kiezen wat we wilden bestellen, dus hebben we de serveerster gevraagd om wat aanbevelingen. Wij hebben uiteindelijk de volgende dingen besteld: witte kool gewokt met chilipepers, gefrituurde calamari, Peking eend met bao, krokante buikspek, noodles met ei en groente en bief tong op een hete plaat. Alle gerechten waren erg smaakvol en hebben er flink van genoten. Het was iets te veel voor 4 personen, dus hebben we wat restjes meegenomen. De bediening was vriendelijk en heeft ons goed geholpen met de bestelling. Verder is het restaurant modern ingericht, je zou niet verwachten dat je in een Chinees restaurant zou zijn als je het niet zou weten.

From the receptionist to the server, the service quality was phenomenal! Very welcoming environment. I loved the soup dumpling and garlic calamari appetizers. Beef on fire is so so, didn’t meet my expectation. Well could also because I love spicy food but my husband doesn’t eat spicy so I lost the fun of tasting spicy.

Great food, we loved the wood ear mushroom salad, mountain yam chicken, and la Rou. Top item, though, was the purple yam bao amazing. Service was great as well, we didn't have a reservation on a Wednesday night but they seated us at the shared table within a few minutes of arriving, and we had space between us and other parties. Live music was a nice touch as well!

Live Jazz performance when we dinned there. Service was superb. Ordered “authentic” spicy level for all four dishes. Reminded me of years I spent in Hunan, China. The little chilies in those dishes are like “icing on the cake” that make everything taste really authentic.
