Sulga House of Bone Soup

I have seen good reviews of this relatively new place, so I came here to try the “sul-lung-tang” (설렁탕). Presentation was good, service was great, but the taste of the soup tasted weird. It wasn’t the authentic taste of “sul-lung-tang”, so if you’re going to come here to just to eat that, try other places! :)

Ok. First off, very awkward on 6PM dinner time nobodys there and walk in with no greetings until you step in front of them Place itself is pretty clean and prepped except restrooms dont have paper towel with dirty soap. Well I sat, and started looking at the menu, placed an order. Usually Korean Soup place serves super fast. But here I had wait. The server forgets our order comes and ask what we ordered after like 10 mins we order when there was noone lol Then she comes again confirming if its the right order which was wrong... so had to tell her right one, and I see her rushing in to kitchen. I think that was the slowest serve speed Ive seen at Korean Beef Soup place. Food itself was good. Nothing special but nothing bad either. Banchans were good too except they give you small portion of green onion as if they dont want to see those Koreans pouring green onions in their soup. Price is pretty high for the quality and service. Probably wont come back unless I hear from others that this place is really good. + 1 star for the food but other than that, nope

For Korean soups they are excellent, especially the galbitang. Korean pancakes too. Parking lot is small and tight

This restaurant changed ownership last year and the meat is not fresh and smells bad. And the price is too expensive.

Place changed owners recently. Used to be my favorite Korean restaurant in LA but unfortunately went downhill since the change

I was super excited to try Sulga after seeing several recommendations on social media and the reviews. Presentation was very good, along with the service. Why the 3 star rating? The meat was underwhelming and tough. I’ve had Korean soups all my life and it’s one of my favourite meals. The meat at Sulga was chewy and tough. On the kalbi soup, we had to ask for scissors to cut it since we couldn’t but off the meat. The brisket was also very thin and dry…which is surprising given it’s in the soup. Maybe the other dishes are better.
