Very good birthday cake!!

update: ordered a custom cake for a work event and it did not only turn out perfect but also tasted amazing!! My favorite bakery in the sf bay area! Everything tastes so amazing and looks so pretty! Never been disappointed. I'd recommend to definitely try the burnt almond. Also tried the double cheese cake for the first time yesterday (recommended by the person working there) and while I'm not a fan of cheese cakes, it was delicious and I'll definitely get it again.

Ordered customized cupcakes from them for an event and they turned out to be really good. Highly recommend them for any events for customized orders

Ordered a specialty coconut cake with coconut buttercream icing and it was amazing! Very easy to work with, cake looked exactly like I imagined; and it was delicious!!!!!

Be aware they’ll charge you $4 on top to add a happy birthday message on a cake without telling you

I had read several reviews about the burnt almond cake at Sugar Butter Flour so I decided to stop by when I was in the area. The pastry case was full of all kinds of pastries that ranged from small individual servings and full sized cakes. I got an individual size burnt almond cake and yule log. The burn almond cake is a vanilla and chocolate cake with amaretto custard filling and topped with whipped cream and almonds. The yule log was chocolate cake with a custard filling and chocolate ganache icing. Overall, I was underwhelmed with the desserts. The burnt almond cake just tasted like almond extract and the yule log wasn't anything special. Based on these two desserts, I likely wouldn't return to the Sugar Butter Flour.
