This place is fantastic. This is the kind of place, if I were going to be a proprietor of a restaurant, that I would want my restaurant to be. I would want to make food you want to eat that is both unique and delicious. I would want to make drinks that are both tasty and above the ordinary (bonus points if they allow your staff to light stuff on fire as part of the daily oeuvre.) I would want my staff to be both knowledgeable and highly engaged with their clientele, to the point that chatting with a table like you’re old buds is just a regular Tuesday. I would also take allergies as seriously as Stout’s did—my wife has some severe allergies and they checked everything and made sure we were good. I go to my fair share of restaurants and have had experiences from the abysmal to the enjoyable, but occasionally I get the rare treat to eat at a place that makes restauranting what it could be at its very best—an experience worth remembering. Our server was Mathew, and he was tremendous. Every recommendation he made was spot on. He was funny and engaging and we probably could have chatted for another hour or so. He also even welcomed us to chill out inside while Mother Nature loosed herself on San Antonio. We were here past close and the bartender Amanda was super friendly and gracious and allowed us to stay, have a drink, discuss the finer points of old fashioneds and the use of vermouth in drinks, while we were trying to not melt in the torrential downpour. I had the prosciutto-wrapped chicken and also the Colorado Carajillo—both were highlights on a menu that had no misses. Just all around fantastic food and hospitality, like the food and hospitality industry should be. This place was on my radar because 5.0 stars on 3,000-something reviews is probably not wrong. Guess what? 5.0 stars on 3,000-something reviews is NOT wrong. Bravo! Highly recommend.

This hidden gem just off the Riverwalk deserves to be WAAAAY more packed than it was on the Tuesday night when we visited. I don’t even know where to start with this review, because EVERYTHING was amazing. Food? Outstanding. Drinks? Varied and interesting — I especially loved the Mezcal New Fashioned and would suggest it to anyone whose favorite flavor is “smoky.” The duck breast was paired with an excellent blueberry sauce and the bread pudding went beautifully with the Coffee Old Fashioned. Beyond that, the service was everything anyone should ever be able to ask for. I have a pair of weird but severe allergies and our server Mathew was very attentive and well-versed on the ins and outs of the menu and what was safe for me to eat. As a bonus, he was great fun to talk to. The bartender, Amanda, was likewise excellent, despite being Absolutely Wrong about brandy old fashions. Brandy counts, too, Amanda! She let us take refuge at the bar while waiting out a sudden deluge and her enthusiasm for bar craft was infectious and she’s clearly got a great talent for crafting drinks. Allergy evaluation: 10/10, would trust implicitly.

Our first time to visit and everything was wonderful! Olivier came by our table (even though it was his night off) to make some wine suggestions for us. I opted for the Salemberry cocktail which was delectable. Lorenzo was our server and made sure to take excellent care of us. We started with the arancini. Lorenzo was able to suggest the perfect wine paired to my husband's steak (the one my husband originally wanted wasn't available), the Chilean sea bass was scrumptious, and then he made a perfect suggestion of espresso creme brulee for dessert. Will definitely put this on the list of places to visit again when we come back, and will suggest to anyone coming this way

I started out with a cocktail that was spicy and a bit sweet. Our waiter Lorenzo was not only professional and courteous ,he was quite knowledgeable about the menu and very very handsome! You've got to try the prosciutto wrapped around a tender piece of grilled chicken and stuffed with goat cheese and spinach with a honey glaze. It was very good. Will definitely go there again
