Steak 'n Shake

I went inside to order. They no longer have a person take your order, it's all done on the kiosk, whether you are doing take out or dining in... then it actually has the nerve to suggest a tip amount. This is a huge pet peave of mine.... counter service fast food places should NOT be asking for tips. Period. Especially when you have to type your order into a kiosk. These employees get paid at least minimum wage, unlike waiters and waitresses in an actual restaurant that get paid less than $3 an hour. Not to mention, the table I sat at to wait for my food was dirty. The first time I went here a couple weeks ago, the burgers were greasy. This last time I went, they actually made one of the burgers wrong, which I didn't discover until after I got home. The cooks are friendly and made it right. The girl who calls your name when your food is ready was not. She was also stingy with the ketchup. I sat at the same table to wait for them to correct my order... and the table was still dirty. And no, they were not very busy. The milkshakes are always fabulous, although I swear the cups are smaller than they used to be about 5 years ago... which was the last time I'd been here until this month.

First time in since the kiosk system started. I have been doing drive thru. So when I expressed my displeasure with the kiosk the employee that does the front of the house would not let me do my own order and I objected enough for her to know for sure that I wanted to do it myself. But she insisted on doing it for me! But she would not key in the change of cheese which is what started the problem at first! Even after I reminded her about the cheese it was not right. So when the order was to be corrected they gave me a plain double cheeseburger with NOTHING ON IT. My order was for everything! Also the orders were placed separately from my companion so we did not get to eat together I had to take mine to go and when I went to check my Burger to see if it was right it was wrapped up and my friends were leaving anyway. So I had to go. What a cluster of incompetent activities!!!

Do not go within 20 minutes of closing. They will not take your order and will have the closed announcement on. This is the 2nd time this has happened

Melodie (the hostess) and Wandricka were exceptional. They were so pleasant and kind to everybody. My daughter bonked her head before coming in and Melodie got her some ice. Wandricka brought her the hat and crayons. Then an elderly woman came in and both ladies were so patient with her, assisting with kindness. Watching them made my heart smile. The food was delicious and the service was quick. Not going to lie, I never thought I'd be writing this about S & S. This staff rocked it today. We'll definitely be returning.

Arie was amazing! She makes you feel welcomed, she's friendly and always with a gorgeous smile on her face!
