Not a fan of this restaurant. Food came out cold and we mentioned it to server she was so kind and polite and took it back but when it came back out the plate was super hot and the food was cold in the middle leaving me to believe it was microwaved. The curries were okay my issue is that they were all basically the same with very minor flavor changes and lukewarm. I was excited to support a north park business as we are locals but we won’t be returning until there are more positive reviews. As I scroll I see that my experience is not uncommon. The two stars are for the polite server and the hot pp sauce which I loved.
Great place, great food and great service! Definitely different from most places in North Park, but worth the visit! We enjoyed the breakfast plates and sandwiches, and they have an amazing mimosa deal (free unlimited mimosas with brunch).
Uncomfortable barstools made enjoying the food impossible. Ask for a table with proper chairs.
I ordered lamb curry and it barely contained any lamb but the sauce was delicious. Maybe next time I’ll just ask for sauce which should be half the price considering there’s no meat? My daughter had the lamb bunny chow which was again just sauce and bread. Where’s the lamb? Cocktails were fun though and you can’t beat the atmosphere.
Laidback environment, service is friendly, shout out to Angelica for making all of the best recommendations when you just don’t know! Thx Chef Donte for making it all possible, super hospitable team. AND…Ginger beer is a total hit, try the prickly pear hibiscus;)
Rude service, forgotten orders, and straight up mold on food. Would not recommend. Also I wen there with a native South African and he said mostly everything was wrong.
I am South African and have to say the third time I ate there the bobotie was not on par, the milk tart is dismal and the peri peri chicken was over charred. The traditional sauce was basically just carrots and onions not the way we make it traditionally. I love the idea and the food can be great but it needs something South African that I found missing. The Bunny chow is on point and the curry's are phenomenal, there is a lot of South African missing but I still love the idea and will keep on hoping and going to taste
With all of the food options in North Park I will be surprised if this place makes it a full year. They are 4 months old at this location and haven’t made it past the growing pains. I was the only one there, how on earth was each dish I ordered still cold unless it’s all refrigerated or frozen and wasn’t cooked long enough. The lamb curry was cold, the rice and potatoes were cold, the chicken wings had zero flavor. This place needs serious help
