Ilona and Irina are the best!!! We loved working with the Solodko team for our wedding. The wedding cake they created far exceeded what we hoped for (and the cake was what I was most excited about outside marrying my person and being with loved ones!). Ilona was extremely responsive, creative, thoughtful and enthusiastic throughout the entire process. Our cake was not only breathtakingly beautiful, but tasted amazing. I had many people rave about their cake to me at the reception, and even one dear friend who shared she had three slices! Even though the cake was bigger than the number of folks attending, there were no leftovers. I could not recommend Solodko more highly. The cake was stunning and delicious and the experience working with the Solodko team could not have been more positive. They’re the best for wedding cakes (and macaroons, and event cakes, and everything else they do so well!!). Solodko is a central, wonderful part of our favorite wedding planning and reception memories. We love the Solodko team and were fortunate and proud to work with them again for another joy-filled cake for our baby shower. Wedding planning can be overwhelming and stressful and working with the team at Solodko was smooth, supportive and fun. You’ll not only be so thrilled with your showstopper cake, you’ll gain friends for life!!

A slice of Ukrainian Patisserie in Brighton Tucked away in a residential area of Brighton, Solodko is probably the only Ukrainian bakery in the city. While a bit off the beaten path and not readily accessible by metro, it offers small yet unique selection of Ukrainian confectionery. On my recent visit, I was compelled to try all their offerings and eventually got all of their cakes. Among the ones I tried, the Medovik, a traditional Ukrainian honey cake, was my favorite. Its structure, comprising thin, Lotus Biscoff-like layers, paired nicely with the classic buttercream filling. On the other hand, their mousse cheesecakes, both the Mango and Black Currant Lavender versions, left a mixed impression. Their texture leaned more towards jelly-like consistency, and the subtlety of their sweetness was a tad too understated for my palate. Since they also seemed to specialize in intricately crafted cakes, I also got a small Berry Vanilla Bento cake. However, this also proved to be somewhat underwhelming. The cake adhered closely to the typical American style, characterized by its thick buttercream frosting and a singular layer of berry preserves, lacking the distinctiveness I had hoped for. Despite some hits and misses, Solodko unmistakably adds a unique touch to Boston’s bakery scene, which is predominantly filled with French and Mediterranean influences. While I am uncertain about a return visit for the cakes alone, I might go back if they have a rotating selection of pastries. Parking: Free street parking along the street (no signs). Residential area, so usually empty spots are hard to come by.

I had ordered the Chocolate Honey Cake to be delivered to my partner for his birthday. It tasted like heaven, he said. The only drawback i would say is the limited cake range available online. I can see from pictures of other reviews that there are more cakes available in store. Would be great if they are added for online delivery as well.

The people who run or work here are not very nice people, I am starting to believe they do not like African Americans/Minorities which is strange because they have a bakery across from several African American/ & Minority families not to mention they are on a street with an African American ran church. I am not sure if they’ve had bad experiences or whatever the case may be but they are never friendly, don’t speak, aren’t polite what so ever and they also act as if they are scared of the local people who have lived here way longer than before they became a bakery. I was excited to try their baked goods and one day my daughter went in to try to buy something and they were very rude to her and ever since then we have not stepped foot back into this place. I definitely believe if you are going to have a bakery in a minority mixed neighborhood be open to servicing all people not just people of your distinct background and it’s hard enough dealing with stereo types just for this bakery to come and add to the stigma. Hopefully with time they can become better educated in diversity.

Solodko delivered the most beautiful and delicious cake & pastries for our wedding! The cake artist certainly has an eye for beautiful design and created a beautiful cake with very little direction. After doing the cake tasting, we knew we would get our cake here. All the flavors & fillings were great and not coated in sugar like American party cakes. We heard from so many guests that the cake & pastries were absolutely delicious.
