Smokin Banh Mi

$30 for a sandwich and fries. They were out of EVERYTHING and had steak house prices. The chicken was ok, but the waffle fries were just oven baked bs with spicy mayo on top. So either the Parm was expensive or the dude messed up the price. Either way, not worth the money. Got to Tam Deli for a real Bahn mi with the best device you could ever imagine. I can’t believe they charge $15 for some waffle fries they get from Sam’s or Costco. Don’t eat here. Go to Tam Deli! This place sucks.

Big portions especially the banh mi’s and full of flavor! Banh mi: I usually don’t opt for chicken dishes as it tends to be dry, but their chicken banh mi was so tender with the perfect kick of spice—not too salty! It’s a fusion spot so with that expectation in mind I really think they nailed it. The bread was also toasted to perfection with great texture (not overly crunchy). Filling proportion of protein/veggies to bread ratio so well worth the price IMO. Truffle fries: waffle style fries which are hard to come by so this made me happy! Bulgogi vermicelli bowl: My sister enjoyed hers and would get it again! A lighter but still flavorful alternative. About a 20 min wait like many food trucks but the environment at Meanwhile Brewery made time pass by quickly. Helpful, friendly staff. Definitely give this delicious spot a try!

This is the best Banh Mi bread I have tried in my life. It was light, and crispy even though it looked disproportionally big for the filling. That being said, the vegetables lacked pickling, the sandwich was generally dry. The chipotle mayo that they give is unjustly hot. A bite would always result in an uneven placement of meat and vegetables. Always had to take two bitea just to get both fillings. Plus orders took too long, although it was a rather busy Friday night but our orders from the other two trucks already arrived like 10 mins before.

Paid $12+ for a small “side” of truffle fries, which were waffle fries with a little sauce and cheese sprinkled on top. Tasted good, but go get the sage thing from Chick-fil-A for a third of the price and comes with a ticket into heaven.

We thought we give this place a try since they were one of the only non-busy food trucks at meanwhile brewery. Now we know why... PSA! Adobo seasoning should NEVER cross over to chicken on a bahn mi. Although the chicken was juicy and the cook was right, the spice blend was off. No acid, no sugar, just salt... no umami... The cucumbers on the bahn mi were not crunchy or pickeled. A little salt bath on the cucumbers would have made them crunchy but they tasted wet and soggy out of a fridge and julienned to the size of pickle spheres. Not appetizing. Pickel the veggies with a pinch of sugar please? The dumplings tasted like the frozen food bulgalgi dumplings you get at costco. The only redeming portion of the meal was the truffle butter waffle fries. Realistically, how hard is it to mess up fries? If you want an Asian fusion style in Austin, you're better off with 1618 or smokin beauty

$32 (after tip) for a sandwich and fries is a bit extreme. Wasn’t terribly impressed. Will not be returning.

This place makes a fusion/revisited version of banh mi. I had the bulgogi banh mi - very delicious! It is not what I expected since the flavours were very different from the original banh mi, but very pleasant. Fresh ingredients and the flavours were very balanced. Perhaps a little expensive for a banh mi - $15 - but worth trying! Recommended!
