I really wish I could give this a higher rating because my girlfriend and I have been wanting to check the place out for a while now( she's a glider student, I'm a Marine vet) but I just can't. We got there about 2 hours until closing, so it was still plenty busy but walked in and locked eyes with two of the workers kinda expecting to be greeted and well told to either sit down anywhere or something. Instead, we stood there waiting until a bus boy told us to sit anywhere clean. Took 15 minutes to get greeted and asked for drinks Cidy is who helped us and where she was nice when she did talk to us she had no urgency and when a table of 4 regulars sat near us she was super fast to help them get them drinks and we didn't get food for 42 minutes. The atmosphere was really cool with the planes and memorabilia, and it's close to the Marine Corps memorial, which is quite the place. The food my girlfriend got was good (sky rider burger) and the sides, but I got the country fired steak and country grevy. Personally, it was super bland, and all I could taste was the flour in the badder and grevy. Zero beef. I'm glad we went, but both of us are bummed because we had hoped for the classic dinner experience, which I love coming from Chicago, but this wasn't it...at all. I honestly don't understand the raving reviews unless it was just a better day (not firday afternoon). we didn't feel very welcome.
Good food great prices wait staff friendly 'n efficient. Only complaint can't see the runway very well.
Sky Rider Cafe is a genuine rural Arizona dining experience! My wife and I had lunch and chose the country-fried steak entree and French dip sandwich. The dining atmosphere is very American, with many hanging models of WW2 airplanes and photos of aircraft on the walls. Service was excellent, and food portions generous. Please visit Sky Rider Cafe, as these little spots of Americana are rapidly disappearing. Parking: Even during a busy lunchtime, parking outside was ample! The restaurant is handicap accessible with a ramp from the parking lot into the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Kids will be taken in by the many displays of model airplanes hanging from the ceiling, large aviation-themed murals, and location next to the busy Marana Airport. Young diners will be able to see sky divers sailing down with parasails while they eat.
Had grilled Southwest turkey sandwich. The food was great, as was the service. Parking: Lots of marked parking spots as well as spot for handicapped. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair parking and entrance.
I love how they have little air planes hanging off the ceiling, they have great burgers, and the workers are very friendly and kind
Typical homemade food with a great view of small planes coming and going. Excellent food and excellent service.
The BESSST breakfast burrito ever!!!
This old-school diner does everything right. I appreciate the service from what seems to be the same crew whenever I visit. Whether you want breakfast or dinner, the product the comes out of the kitchen is just what you have hoped and expected from local diners for decades. There is something to be said these days for consistency - Sky Rider is just that.
Good food for good price. Always fun to get there.
