Skates On The Bay

Had couple drinks there, bartenders were nice, however this 5% living wage surcharge is laughable. If you can't pay your employees a living wage, then don't charge $8.50 for a bottle of beer. I don't think this surcharge is legal, but I don't care enough to sue them lol. Would never come back for your stupid 5% living wage surcharge

Food: I ordered Alaskan Black Cod, it was really good. But the skin was burnt. My friend ordered shrimp, her food was nice too. We ordered clam chowder soup. It was good! Service: 1. Front desk: I left a note with reservations, I requested a window table then we could have ocean view. The restaurant asked the reason. I put celebration. When we got there, the front desk lady said they didn’t have window table. I was hesitating if we wanted to have the normal table. The lady said we could wait to decide and she would come back to us in 5mins. After 13 mins, I walked to her and asked her what the situation was because she didn’t come back to us. She was impatient and brought us to a normal table. 2. I don’t know if people working here are happy or they work here just for living. If they are not happy, At least they can have a smile while they talking back to us after. The reason why me and my friend went out tonight is for celebration my admission. The Skate on the Bay is not the right place for us tonight. Will never ever go back again.

As we walked to the place the view was breathtaking. We had made a reservation 3 weeks in advance, the whole point was to enjoy the sunset. We were rushed at every point as soon as we got seated. It was not even a busy night. We started with the oysters which were fresh and tbh really great. The main course was decent too, we got the Moroccan mahi mahi, hamburger and salmon. However, as the view was getting prettier while there was plenty of food left at our plate we were rushed for a dessert menu. This definitely did not uplift our mood as if the gestures from the server was not more obvious enough for us to rush and not soak in the pretty view. Finally we ordered a molten lava cake, we had asked for an ice cream on top of it as a special request. The menu did say ask for a flavor which we did, only to be told sarcastically that “vanilla is the only flavor we have”. The cake finally arrived nothing was molten, ice cream was bland with a half of scoop of ice cream. We finally showed modest sign of detest of the whole situation as the experience turned sour from the very start. In conclusion, the food is great, the view is even better but the service is horrendous. You can forget about enjoying the view without the server hustling you at every moment.

There was a huge private party in the upper room so they had the AC on on a cold, rainy night. It was so cold, we almost left. The rest of the restaurant should not have to freeze because you have a private event. Horrible.

Imagine the pure shock to walk into Skates for a birthday celebration..... only to be surrounded by a swarm of flies. There were approximately 50 flies in the entry way to the bar area. Very visible in the way they were hovering in mostly one place but out in the lobby as well. When inquiring with a greeter, they were clearly aware and embarrassed that this issue hasn't been dealt with.... we promptly left, to never return. Do better Skates... how disgusting.

Went there for dinner with my family and had an amazing time! They views of the bay are spectacular and the service was great. We had prime rib and salmon for dinner… oh my goodness! It was delicious! Can’t wait to go there again. Thanks Skates for an amazing experience.
