Extremely racist establishment. Me and my boyfriend went to this bar to have fun. We walked in completely sober wanting to sing karaoke. The bouncer watched my boyfriends every move the entire 45 minutes we were in the bar. My boyfriend ordered one shot, little while later ordered another, and the bouncer told the bartender to cut him off after his second shot. We were literally sitting in a stool very calm the entire time. Meanwhile other groups were having fun loudly and very obviously intoxicated (which was completely fine because it is a bar!)My boyfriend was not in any way disturbing anyone, we were sitting talking to each-other, and cheering on the other singers. Also almost every man in the establishment had a hat on, but when my boyfriend put his hood on the bouncer interrupted us to say “hoodies put us at risk for robbery”. Keep in mind my boyfriend was the only African-American man in the bar besides 1 worker. The bouncer was a heavy set white man who was cockeyed *warning to any minority to not give money to a bar that allows there workers to be racist**
Fun and solid city watering hole
This place is always a blast! It is cash only, but the entertainment is free. Everyone is very welcome a sidekicks! It is a place where anyone would have a hard time feeling out of place. Prices are very reasonable. PBR IS $4, whiskey servings are around $7.
Sidekick’s Entertainment Lounge has a great ambiance. There is nightly karaoke, and people were doing a wide variety of songs, although many of the people seemed to have a penchant for 2000s hits. I love the wooden details of the room and the Christmas lights all over the space; it feels like a quintessential Midwestern bar. The cheese fries were great. When I visited on a Saturday night in mid-January, people remarked that it was more busy than usual. My only qualms are that it is a cash-only bar, and that the bathroom was fairly small and had fairly large gaps in the stall doors.
This place is the best. Just don’t try to derobe while you are performing karaoke
