Love this restaurant. This place introduced me to the wonders of Korean food over 15 years ago.
The food was ok but the service was horrible she never asked my wife or boys if they wanted a drink she put the water right in front of you on the edge of the table setting it up to possibly fall in your lap when we got out order she basically throws it on the table then she never came back to see if there was anything else wanted...i wouldn't wast your time coming here we won't be back.....
Went for dinner my bill was 83.90 I gave the waitress 100 in cash, she didn’t give me any change even when I asked her. Super rude and absolutely disgusting treatment. It was the older lady she’s so rude. I explained I’m not American and didn’t understand the money but wanted my Monday back and she didn’t give me any of it! That’s theft
Don’t let the appearance of this restaurant fool you! It may look run down and a bit scary, but the food is top-notch. I want to say that this is a great place to grab authentic Korean food in Fairbanks! I would definitely revisit Seoul Gate.
We have been going to this place for 4 years, since 2019 that we arrived in Alaska. Unfortunately today marks the day where we are just fed up with the attitude and constant mistreatment. My husband and I came in, we got a table, my husband wanted sushi and I wanted a bu dae jijae so we asked the server if we could have a menu for the sushi. The immediately raised her voice and said… “well if you want sushi go to the other side”. My husband told her maam we are ordering something from here as well. She kept saying you should have gone to the other side. The place was full and this was very embarrassing. It is not the first time we get treated this way by the same server but we thought to give her a chance. Today drew the last straw for us. Never going back!
Worst service ever. We ordered Bulgogi (I.e., grilled beef) and got rice cake soup. We asked the waiter, and she said that their Bulgogi is rice cake soup, even though Bulgogi literally means grilled meet and is under the beef section on their menu. Food is ok.
I absolutely love Seoul Gate! The food is so tasty. The staff is always on it. And I looooove watching the big goldfish swimming in the tank. I have never had a bad meal here. My perspnal favorite dish is the bibimbap. If you have not stopped in to try them out yet you ought to this weekend.
As excited as we were to try this restaurant, it was an expensive disappointment. From trying to figure out where to enter, to the glaring uncomfortable stares from the staff when we figured out where to walk in, to the cobwebs hanging over our table, it was not a good start. We needed 3 seats and a high chair, which we did make sure both the hostess and waitress knew, yet they sat us at a table on a raised floor and were told by the third waitress we couldn't have a high chair there. We finally sat down at the table someone pointed to. Although I appreciate their zeal to serve us, there was no time or break to actually decide what we wanted as FOUR different servers came to our table within a matter of minutes, three of them came twice, within 10 minutes. Not one server told us their name. We told them it was our first time there and asked a few questions but felt like we should have been ashamed to do so. I would have left but this is where my family had wanted to eat! The food was pretty good. Appitizers were well seasoned and a good variety However, some of the rolls were just tasteless, so be sure to order one that is well seasoned. The sesame chicken dinner was good - although the price we were charged was a few dollars more than the menu stated. So watch your ticket. They will definitely clear off the empty and seemingly empty plates, so be careful and there was no thank yous or courtesy upon paying the $125+ ticket. And then, on the way out of the door, my pregnant daughter tripped on the rug that is too wide for the doorway and is up off the ground! Thankfully she didn't fall. One last comment. Don't bring a toddler, they are not equipped nor welcoming of little ones. (We ate on the sushi side but won't go back to see how the other side is, don't want to take the chance).
Love it every time! Great food and service! Love the different kimchi!
