I don’t think I have ever been gaslighted by a waitress at a restaurant before. Guess there is always a first. Over the years, I have supported Seo Ra Beol and have always told my friends about them. Unfortunately, after my encounter with them today, I will not be returning. 9 out of 10 times when I eat there, I’ve always order the same “Woo Guh Ji Galbi Tang” or “Short Rib & Korean Cabbage Cooked in Spicy Soup.” Every single time prior, the soup has always been good. Red. Spicy. As advertised. Tell me why, today, this lady brought the above soup out and told me this is what I ordered. Right when she brought it out, I immediately asked her if this is what I ordered and she said yes. I found it weird and proceed to taste the soup. It was not a slight bit spicy. Cannot even say it is mild. I tried to confirm with her again and questioned why the soup is not spicy and I told her that this is not what I ordered. She went on to get my order ticket and the menu and pointed to #15. And I said yes. #15. SPICY soup. She kept saying that this was the correct soup. She proceed to even come back with the spicy sauce jar and said “if you want it to be MORE spicy, put this in.” I told her, “it is not spicy at all to begin with.” Tell me why this waitress responded, “this is the spicy soup, maybe today they just added extra bean paste…” Like what the heck??? Anyways. Long story short. I am disappointed in the waitress and in the rest of the crew members that was there this morning. The fact that she kept trying to tell me that the soup I ordered IS the spicy soup is crazy to me. If the kitchen has made a mistake, just admit it. I might have even just said, it’s okay. Whatever. I will eat this one. But the fact that she kept telling me this is the spicy soup. This is #15. This is what you ordered. That is unacceptable to me. Don’t insult Korean cuisine like that. Don’t insult me like that. I know what I ordered and I definitely know what spicy is suppose to taste like…
The food is decent but could be better in quality, flavor and quantity if you compare it to other similar restaurants nearby with the same prices. However, I do appreciate that they're open 24 hours.
I must stop gatekeeping this place. I suggest take out, explore the city and then take this back to your home to heat up and enjoy. It's 24 hours, that means you could show up at any time and get a take out to take back to wherever you are. Dare I say this is the Korean Waffle House? I do. 11/10
We had a party of 18. The food came out really quickly and the food was really good. The staff could have been friendlier, but dealing with such a large number of people they didn't have time off small talk. Will definitely go back again.
