I tried this restaurant for the first time on my two year anniversary. The place looked very nice and high end and was on the more expensive side for sushi, so I figured it was going to be worth the money for a special occasion. I live in southern California so I’ve had my fair share of good and bad sushi, and this was genuinely the worst sushi I’ve ever had in my entire life. The rolls were much more expensive than typical rolls, and I expected that to be made up for with the quality of the ingredients, but the rolls we got were fishy and not very fresh. There was one roll we only ate two pieces of because it made both of us almost throw up. We’re both sushi lovers and this was the most disappointing and overpriced disgusting sushi I’ve ever had, it was so bad it makes me cautious to try new places because this was such a misleading restaurant. You’d expect an expensive and high end establishment to make your food and service worth the price, but this absolutely is not. Thank god it’s closing down.
The server Alice interrupted me while I was placing my order over the phone and made a noise when I continued to place my order. Then made comments that I should have ordered online. I need certain things fully cooked because of an intestinal issue, which for some reason I found myself explaining to her when I picked up my food. Alice, was also rude as to her questions regarding me being a local person to town. By the time I left there I felt as though I had to verbally wrestle the server to get my order. THEN when I called back and asked her if I had done something for her to be so snippy, she said she doesn’t recall being snippy to me… all she had to do was apologize. The worst customer service that I have ever had at this restaurant my entire life. I have been going to San Shi Go since they were at Oak Street. Many fond memories. I would not recommend Alice as your server until she gets some customer service training. The food is always excellent.
Very reasonably priced for laguna beach. Easy parking.
I honestly thought the atmosphere would be better but oh well. The sushi was good but nothing special and the service was slow and confusing which servers were ours.
Probably one of the best sushi bars I've ever been to in the entire world.
I had a terrible experience today. The food is such low value that I don’t think it worth the cost. I can’t even tell the difference between otoro and beef. It is ridiculous that this restaurant gets an 4.5 star rating here, you cannot see the sea or anything here. Also we ordered one agedashi tofu in the beginning and it did not even come up after we finish the ice cream. The server is like a student in high school or college here. Never come back again.
fire sushi the best sushi and fish I have had in a long time. Definitely recommend this place.
Cool spot in Laguna Beach to get sushi. Plenty of room inside and you can watch the sushi chef prepare the rolls/sashimi at the sushi bar. The servers seems a bit disorganised throughout the night and the last tuna roll we ordered took a while to get but the spot is still fairly new. The far east cocktail was citrusy and a very pretty purple color. My party tried the backflip roll, caterpillar roll, rainbow roll, and spider roll. They were all fresh and the cajun tuna on the backflip roll was a highlight for me. We finished off the night with the tempura matcha ice cream which everyone enjoyed thoroughly.
