San Marcos Mexican Restaurant - Raleigh

My fav Mexican restaurant in Raleigh! Always great! What else can I say? Update from 2 yrs ago: Nothing has changed!

This is my second time here and what an amazing experience! The food and the service was absolutely great! From the Enchiladas Supremas to the San Marcos Specials to the addicting Mala Fama flaming drink that I must get on every visit!!! Staff and management will remember you and treat you like family. Beautiful atmosphere, music, and food a must visit!!

Awesome mango margaritas and camarones fundido

Stopped by for dinner last night and everything was great. Our server Christian was quick to greet us with a smile. We both had draft beers to drink. My husband asked about a certain entrée in which Christian said it was great. He had the Carne en su Jugo and he loved it. I had the Burrito Fundido which was also fantastic. We will definitely be back.

I was excited to try this place because they had 2 dedicated vegan options, that also just galen to be gluten free. I could either get the blue corn tortilla tacos or the enchiladas. Both came with nopales (cactus) and black beans. I chose the tacos, simply becauseI'm not typically a big fan of green tomatillo sauce, which was on the enchiladas. The tacos were very good and extremely filling. I feel they could have used more veggies in them and less beans though, for my personal preference, because the beans are pretty salty. We also got the guac and chips as an appetizer, and the guac was pretty darn good! I decided to try their Cadillac Margarita and was happy I did. Very flavorful and strong. Definitely not one of those weak ones with the electric neon green fake mix I've seen at other places. The atmosphere really has some cool touches and the building itself is a fantastic architectural design. If you haven't checked this place out yet, I highly suggest it!
