Same Day Cafe

We just stopped by while we were waiting for a table at Longman & Eagle. I got a specialty latte (maple cayenne) and the curry turnover. The pastry was good but too cold, the maple and cayenne in the latte also didn’t have strong flavors or notes of either. Both had potential though.

Went here for a late breakfast on a Saturday morning and sat at the counter with my partner. Very cute place, somewhere between a diner & coffee shop vibe. Nice staff, excellent food, and very good espresso. Loved the vegetarian biscuits & gravy w/ brussel sprouts.

A really nice surprise. Service with a smile. Potatoes were fantastic, and the sure knew how to make a latte.

I would give them 0 stars if it existed Me and my best friend walked in here on a Saturday around brunch- they were busy but not drowning in service there was two tables open in the front by the window a two top and a four top- a staff member greeted and gestured to the general area to take a seat- since he did not specify we decided to take the four top by the window away from other tables. I honestly was confused as to who our server was there was like 4 different people trying to take our order in short time span. The staff seemed unknowledgeable about the menu because anytime I asked a question they looked extremely confused. We needed some time to look at the menu but none of the servers came back around and we had to call over a server. The food was absolutely unimpressive and not worth the price. I could honestly do better in my own kitchen. I ordered the pan potato’s and the chicken curry salad sandwich. The potatoes looked sad it was four tiny round tomatoes sliced in half place on a plate and drenched in mustard. The presentation was absolutely horrible and not worth the price point. The sandwich had a hair in it as well(see picture attached) when I told the waitress she just said “oh” didn’t apologize or offer to fix it. I had to ask her to comp it and thankfully she did. Not to mention before that she made us move and split the four top- the way she approached the situation was passive aggressive and uncaring and she didn’t even help us move the table. As someone who works in the hospitality industry this was extremely frustrating to deal with such poor service. Not to mention she gave us another tables check when we wanted to pay- I didn’t even notice until after we left and I was looking at the receipt. I DO NOT recommend this place.

Very poor service today. Makes me sad because I’ve often really liked coming here, sadly I don’t think I will anymore. I asked if I could sit outside to which I was told that was perfectly fine, it’s a sunny day. Received my drink and food in to-go containers and had to get up from my table both times to pick them up from the to-go window, and the server knew I was planning on eating here. Then had to get up to get silverware and was told to make sure I bring it back. So while everyone else is being served inside like at a sit-down restaurant, I’m here having to serve myself and am being treated rudely. I even apologized saying if I had known they weren’t serving outside I would have sat inside and she just kind of brushed me off and said oh it’s ok that a lot of people have been sitting outside. So my question then is, “ok then why am I having to serve myself and being treated passive aggressively and rudely?” Oh well, didn’t want to broach it but won’t be coming back anytime soon unfortunately.
