Ruth’s Chris was our go-to for years for anniversaries, birthdays, or romantic dinners. We have not been in about 5-years, so we decided to take our sons and daughter in laws for a nice dinner on Friday April 19th for our Daughter in laws birthday (they flew in from Ohio). When we were seated, it was in the front dining room and I noticed the very close tables and the lack of that “special place” feeling. About 10 minutes after we sat down, a family of 4 adults and 6 children (all appeared to be under 5) sat down across from us, and then the table next to us was seated with 3 ladies and a young girl, maybe 6 or 7. She had her video playing all through dinner. The service was good, but not up to the standards we used to see at Ruth’s Chris. We ordered appetizers which were all great. When we ordered dinner, we also ordered our favorite bottle of red wine for over $200.00. When it came out, it felt like it came right out of a refrigerator. Ice cold. This may sound like a small thing, but for anyone that really enjoys a nice bottle of red, knows it needs to be warmer than white or the flavor is never properly released. The steaks were good, but not the sizzling, buttery flavor we are used to. We spent over $1200 all-in for dinner, and unfortunately will not be back. While eating, people in t-shirts with pictures and sayings on them and a baseball hat, were seated a few tables away. I guess they got rid of any dress code. I personally think Ruth’s Chris has lost its way and it is not a path we want to go down again.
