Rudy Royale

We have visited Rudy Royale several times and love the food. However, the service at the bar needs improvement. Today, we were served drinks and placed a food order. Right after placing the food order, we were told by the bartender that we needed to cash out our check (even though we had not yet received our food) since it was “shift change.” I questioned this since we have never been to a restaurant that demanded we cash out our check before receiving our food. The bartender was argumentative when we asked if we could cash out our drinks and transfer our check to the next bartender for the remainder. We were told that “the system is not set up that way” and we were given no other choice but to cash out. After we cashed out, we received our food with no other attention from the bartender. My husband received no further drinks (we would have had to open a second check at this point).. so we left. I’m familiar with POS systems (point of sale) and know for a fact it is possible to transfer checks from server to server during shift change. Very disappointed in the service and it felt shady. We came to Rudy’s as we passed by because the menu looked extremely delicious. We were hosted by Marianne at the bar who is absolutely fantastic. She makes an amazing Manhattan, and she whipped up a Mocktail for my girlfriend that was out of this world. When the fried chicken sandwich came, it was everything and more it touted to be. So delicious. Can’t wait to come back and hang out with Marianne at the bar because she’s super friendly professional and gave us great recommendations to finish up our trip here in Charleston.

Rating five stars because I’m not a hater, the food is fantastic. That being said, if someone from the restaurant sees this I really hope the batch of brownies you had tonight (3/9) were not the norm. 10 bucks for that brownie is quite an embarrassment. We took it to go to enjoy at home And it was rock hard absolutely inedible. If I had eaten it at the restaurant I would not have wanted to pay for it

Great place for hot chicken, drinks were tasty! Will definitely be back.

The lunch menu is fantastic and decently priced. I recommend the cornbread and any fried chicken dish. I had the chicken tenders with honey-sea salt. The pieces are huge, moist on inside and super crisp on the outside. It was amazing even eating the left over the next day. The service was great, thank you Scottie!

My girlfriend and I came here for dinner and sat outside. It was a little chilly but we didn’t mind it. Nice atmosphere with good drink options and delicious, well-priced food. I got the cornbread to start and it was delicious especially with the honey butter. I also got the chicken pot pie and it was so good I wish I had a bigger portion, but I’m not the smallest guy so it’s probably a good portion for most people. Overall, very good food, friendly service, and laid back atmosphere but wasn’t too casual. Would definitely come again.

Great spot! Good atmosphere, terrific service (thanks Scottie!), full bar, cool chicken menu, and a prime location near the market. Highly recommended! Kid-friendliness: Ok for kids, they have their own menu, friendly staff
