Definitely worth the money if you go alone. Would not recommend going here if you’re a family of four unless you’re crazy rich or very crazy. Service was absolutely fantastic. First time I’ve been called Mr. Ovsianikov in a very serious manner, and I’m only 17! The atmosphere, especially in the morning, is amazing. Nobody there. Just you, the staff, the food, and the late sunrise over the lake, with the swans and ducks happily swimming along. And of course, the food was fabulous! Although expensive, it is definitely for it. For reference, I got a cappuccino and brioche French toast and that cost me exactly $35.92 (after tax and the automatic 20% tip). The French toast was the best that I have tasted in years. The compote (although it was more of a jam, not the drink) went perfectly with the toasts and the sweet cream on the side. And the cappuccino went along with a brownie cracker and, get this, a small stick of rock candy (crystallized sugar). Mix the rock candy and the cappuccino together and you have yourself a wonderful time. All in all, entered with an appetite, left with satisfaction. Worth the money. Kid-friendliness: Like I said, since I’m 17 as of writing this post, I am not sure if I count anymore as a kid. But from the atmosphere and the services alone, I can guarantee an absolute blast if you are one.

We were seated right by the window and the view of the lake and trees adorned with Christmas lights were stunning. The restaurant was rustic and the vibe was easygoing. Our waitress was friendly, but the overall service was slow. We waited about 15 minutes to get our drinks and one of them was wrong. It took another 10-15 minutes before our waitress came back to take our orders. We ordered Crudo di Carne appetizer which probably took 25-30 minutes to arrive and it wasn’t a dish they had to cook. Thankfully, it was delicious. The meat was tender, well prepared and seasoned. The accompaniments added brightness to the dish. We then ordered the Calabrese pizza, lobster pappardelle and spaghetti with meatballs. It took another 30+ minutes to get these entrees. At this point, we were starving and was just happy to get more food. The Calabrese pizza would have been great, but the honey ruined it. The pizza just tasted like BBQ. I liked the fresh pappardelle pasta, but I thought the light lobster flavor was lost in the sauce. The spaghetti tasted fine, but it wasn’t anything special. My daughter thought the meatballs were bland. We paid 200+ with tip. The service didn’t match the price and the meal was mediocre.

I came to Ristorante Del Lago with a big group and needed a last minute very large order. Alexandre and Rafael accommodated beyond my needs and made a last minute dinner - easy, seamless, delicious and top notch customer service.

World's worst lasagna. When bread is the best thing to rave about, and the front of the house is apologizing because they agree with you, the chef must be in denial about the quality of their food. This is our second night attempting this restaurant because we were hoping the first night was a fluke after our first inedible vinegar drenched salad. But the reality is their recurring kitchen problem equates to a chef who can't figure out how to make classical Italian food taste good. Their "chef" flattens leftover meatball paste to form a patty reminiscant of dry mystery meat from a grade school lunch tray. The geriatric skin of the scarred flavorless cheese comprising the lasagna's top layer leaves you searching for an immediate pallate cleanser. Every other table around us was sending back pasta dishes because the blunder was not limited to one rogue opinion. This chef deserves time off to travel to I SODI in NYC, where James Beard winner Chef Rita Sodi reigns as the only Italian American to have successfully reinterpreted lasagna through the lens of a mille-fueille, with its twenty-some layers. Or perhaps invite an Italian grandmother into the kitchen so this problem can resolve itself at minimal expense. Del Lago means "of the lake" - which is where these kitchen scars belong -- though fish would probably reject the scraps, too. For having participated in a culinary nightmare while witnessing a recurring botched execution, the staff is as gracious as they could possibly be. No wonder the restaurant mandates a 20% service charge. Luckily their pastry chef is immune to the whims of a failed dinner interpretation; desserts rose to the occasion with a properly soaked tiramisu and a cloud-light layer of custard in their successful interpretation of a strawberry zabaglione. If you come here, come for the dessert -- or just the bread, which seems to be their only dinner item capable of rising to the occasion.
