Rick's Dessert Diner

We were visiting from out-of- town. After reading about this place online we were very excited to see it in person and try the cakes. The line wasn't terrible when we came in last night (saturday) but it certainly grew while we were in the line. By the time it was our turn I tried my best to effectively communicate with the employee that was helping get our order. I specified it would be 5 slices. He had gotten 4 of them and the cashier ushered me down to pay for my order. I indicated to her also that there was one final slice I was waiting for. She had turned around and packed our order. I thought at that point she was putting the 5 slices in the bag. She went as far to tell me if we needed utencils they were at the end of the counter, I didn't see the need to double check that she put all 5 slices in the bag. We drove 3 hours home and in putting the slices found there was only 4 slices in the bag when I paid for 5. Kind of disappointing.

They have great gluten free options including multiple cake options. Ice cream is delicious too.

Went for birthday cake with adult son...after long wait, only 1 staff members helping customers, larger AA male,...making mochas, taking catering orders, while we patiently waited. Another girl staff member came out, but seem to do busy work at counter while we continued to wait to order our cake. There was one other couple in the diner. Finally ordered our cake slices, I waa happy they had candle and lighter. Asked for forks, was directed to self serve counter. Only 1 fork left, i asked worker for another fork please.he told me to just take a plastic one, aa he continued to sit at the counter on his phone. I said i meant a metal fork? He just looked at me like he didnt understand..so i just let it go. $20 for 2 slices of cake, but to have to eat it plastic fork because staff did not keep clean utensils nor have enough customer service, common sense to get up and wash a fork was just rude and tacky.. Cake delicious. Staff was better suited for mcdonalds. Disappointing they did not even try to give good service and a happy birthday experience

I have been going to Ricks for years with no issues but today my husband went in to get dessert for us and the serving size is about half of what it used to be and is now more expensive..

It's exactly what you would imagine. Tons of classic desserts. Everything tastes good.

Lovely tiramisu!!!!!! Not a fan of the cheesecake! Im in love with the marilyn monroe wallpaper.

This is always a must stop location when I come to Sacramento. The desserts are delicious and the vibe is great
