Retroclubnyc is less a “nightclub” and more an “italian restaurant that, at night, puts up a disco ball and bar mitzvah lighting.” Would you want to pay a $15 CASH ONLY cover to dance in an italian restaurant? The shakedown begins at the door and never relents. I advise you consider staying home and dancing to Spotify — the DJ here (on a Saturday evening!) was not only horrible at his job, but also had a disgusting attitude that permeated every aspect of the night. Watch out for Uncle Lurch, the older bald gentleman who works as a “dance floor hype man,” creepily sweating on any woman who has the misfortune to enter his dance orbit or eyeline. Are we having fun yet? In a city with thousands of better dance spots and bars, why spend your time and money on such a poor experience? (edited to add that I saw the DJ shove an older gentleman — a scary altercation that caused our mostly-female group to leave the bar. They felt unsafe in the presence of this hostile staff. Go elsewhere for a fun, carefree night out!)

Was granted permission at the door by a "Tony the bouncer" He asked me for ID, I didn't have it and I proceeded to enter. Cashier and coat check (very disorganized) accepted CASH ONLY. Bar was understaffed. After 10 minutes of standing at the bar, Tony the big baffoon bouncer approached my bf, ripped his cap off his head and said there was a no cap policy. Instead of acting like a hoodlum from the ghetto, Tony could've handled himself like a gentleman enforcing the policy. I thought I diffused the situation and much to my dismay, Tony began to get physical with my bf and proceeded to throw us out. He also pushed me when I was trying to figure out why he was getting physical in the first place. Initially, I went to that particular club in hopes of reserving a place for a huge birthday bash. Not here. Not now. Not today or ever. Management: Retrain your security.

Perfect spot to let loose and get down! Drinks were amazing service was outstanding. So much fun!

Everything was from the past. This club is not recommended for youngsters but for the married old couple

Had a great time dancing here with my man on Saturday. All he wanted for his birthday was to dance and I came across your place Everyone was so nice the music was great and the drinks were as well. Friendly bartenders and bouncer. We just had a blast. Wish u were opened all weekend. See ya next time!

Was smacked in the face by an old male patron after he pushed and shoved me around in multiple occasions. The staff let him stay and escorted me out without checking the cameras. I’ll update with police report soon.

So much fun! The vibes, people and music were great! Only thing I will say is they should say that this place isn't a club. It's a bar that becomes a night club. The DJ should brush up on his music and needs to learn how to blend songs. I requested Stevie B Spring Love and he looked at me like he never heard of him.
