If the roaches don’t chase you out the door, the nasty attitudes surely will. There is absolutely no love in the food anymore… Edited to respond: I got a notification to review places I had frequented in the past and since I WAS a long-time customer I dropped my two cents. I easily purchased at least once a week from your establishment for years Omar , so I have actively seen the decline in the food and rotating door of front and back house staff. Since people are paying their hard earned money for food you seldom refund for poor quality or mistakes, the public has the right to know! How many “renovations” are we on at this point? Only to go back to the same sticky floors, and poor management. Tsk tsk, sounds like things haven’t changed☹️ My last time here was because I literally saw roaches on the silver work table of the kitchen you can clearly see through the cash register and I cancelled my order and NEVER came back. Good luck with the reno though❤️
They have been closed permanently since October. I have tried calling and even walked by during supposed opening hours and they've always been closed with a sign on the door claiming that they're having plumbing issues and will be opened "on Monday" but they never are. Any positive reviews written in the last 4 weeks or so are completely fake.
This is the best vegan & jamaican food I've ever had. The vegan wings are everything. E v e r y t h i n g! I don't even live in Gainesville but whenever I pass through, I always stop by. I stopped by a couple months ago and was saddened to see the sign on the door about the plumbing issue but didn't think anything of it. Today I'm passing through Gainesville again and to my dismay, Apple Maps says permanently closed and Google Maps has regular hours but the reviews say it's permanently closed. Please don't say it's true. I love you. Please owner, I saw that you responded to a review about a week ago. Please tell us - are you closed for good or are renovations just taking longer than expected? Will you reopen again? I miss you. Vegetarian options: The vegan wings are everything!!
Great Jamaican option in Gainesville! Love their tempeh dishes being a vegan myself!
My favorite restaurant to go to in Gainesville FL. The food is Amazing. Best Jamaican food. I love their oxtail, with cabbage, beans and rice, and plantains. When I want to treat myself or take someone to dinner this is where I go. The dining experience is open, you can sit down and they will bring your food and drinks. Pay upfront and you can throw away your tray when your ready to leave. A lot of cool Jamacain heritage decorations that are pretty cool to look at. Very nice, delicious food. 5 stars! Vegetarian options: You can order the plates without meat. Parking: It is a long university avenue and I have to parallel park to get to the front but Most people don't know that there's a spacious parking lot in the back of the restaurant and u can just walk in through the back to get to the front without having to park on the main street. This parking area has a reggae shack logo. Kid-friendliness: There are plenty of different tables and chairs for any size family.
Food wasn't what I expected
Having eaten there in past visits to Gainesville and enjoyed the oxtail dinner, this time they were barely cooked,. What a disappointment!! Not going back and don't recommend.
Heading home from our vacation. Thought we would make a quick stop looking for home cooking, not fast food. Wow, did we hit! Odette is incredible, it was one of the best home cooked meals we have ever had! No exaggeration. Avi very kind and made us feel welcome. Had the jerk chicken and jerk pork dinners. Plantain out of this world along with the jerk spice grilled meats, cabbage and rice with peas. Also refreshing smoothie. Mango/coconut. Don't miss this place! Odette you are a master in the kitchen. Thanks
