Reformation Brewery (Smyrna)

Hard to beat the combo of a “cold one” Pils with the INCREDIBLE BBQ of Owens & Hull. All new menu from 2 of the top BBQ guys in the south east. For real! I’ve never had BBQ that good before. Game changer. Get the Huey. Don’t sleep on the turkey either!

First time here. I must say, you couldn't ask for a perfect day to drink good beer outside by the river and listen to live music. Unfortunately, there was a food truck right in front of the entrance with a very loud generator where people where sitting and trying to enjoy their beer and listen to music. Ruined the whole vibe.

I have been to Reformation Brewery here in Smyrna many times since they opened. We live right around the corner It's our.neighborhood joint. If you consider the points I have earned, that's over 150 times. We have organized groups of over a dozen people to come meet there multiple times a year. Recently, they have been completely out of seltzer options 3 times. My wife can drink anything except a beer. I have told them each time, and they don't seem to care. So that's a no go. On this particular day, 6/4/23, the Reformation IPA, my go to favorite, was nasty. No other word for it. It tasted chemical. I told them we wanted a refund and we were going to go home that day. Just write up the experience as a loss and come back some other time. Easy, right? The gentleman behind the counter refused to refund my full beer. He stated there was "literally" nothing he could do. We will never go back there again. Simple.

Live nearby so want to help this brewery to continuously improve. Stopped in with family on 6/6/23. Been here a few times so know what to expect. Not over the top quality but not the worst. Walked in. Walked up to bar and stood there for 3 minutes in silence with another couple as no one was behind bar. Bar tender comes up (and with no geeeting) takes our order. Odd feeling. Side note - There were 6 people in the place, and it was silent. This place needs some music on! Needs a little pulse or flair. Something to feel like at a brewery. Asked bar tender when next live music was playing and was told June 23rd. Asked what type of music. Bar tender wasn’t sure and said they are an old band so old type of music. Ok. Went for a walk with family outside, and area outside is getting better but needs some life. Last feedback, and outweighs all the others. When walk in (and after waiting) Asked for a Belgium Tripel, and told unavailable. Ok. Asked for the Reform IPA. The beer tastes stale or flat. Could not exactly pinpoint the taste but does not taste right. Bought another one just to see if maybe a bad pour but same issue. Since this is a brewery, I was hoping for better quality. Didn’t find it in the staple. Hope it’s better next time!

The attitude and service of the bartender/server was trash. Would not recommend especially if you’re a person of color based on our group’s experience.
