What is the point of offering reservations if they’re just going to be canceled? I understand it’s temporarily closed, but they shouldn’t still offer reservations in that case. The two I’ve made have were cancelled by the restaurant.

Easily the best Italian food in Austin, and in the running for best in the country. Chef owner… Italian food that looks, and tastes, like it’s in a magazine. Highly recommend the seafood pasta, it’s off the charts. That said, we’ve tried a few things on the menu and nothing was less than superb.

1 year since I’ve last eaten here and still dream of this meal. Cocktails, food, bread, desserts, YOU CAN’T GO WRONG! My wife and I have traveled all over the U.S, Europe, and South America, and still this is top 1-3 of places to eat on our list. Definitely the best restaurant in the U.S.A. Service is outstanding, and the Chef’s table is an experience like no other. When my wife and I go to other restaurants and experience their chefs table, we are always disappointed because we compare everything to Red Ash. Red ash, please finish remodeling. My wife and I miss you and will keep calling every month until you re open. Thank you for one of the best meals/experiences we have ever had.

I sincerely don’t understand the hype. For context. I do well and blow my money on food. I eat out at high end restaurants 4-5 nights a week. And LOVE Italian food. I heard of this place and first meal, sucked. Pasta noodles were even still served hard. I said “meh. Everyone has an off day.” I went back, sucked again. EVEN after two failed attempts I figured maybe I’m just missing something, nope round 3 also sucked. I want so badly to prop up a local business but for the prices this place charged with the quality being so far from that mark I had to post. Try for yourself.

The expectation that developed within the 2 months of waiting for our reservation did not necessarily align with my experience. In saying that, I am blessed with some incredible cooks/chiefs in my day-to-day life. I went to Red Ash with a party of 7 and would confidently say we ordered almost the entire menu, and the most raved about/recommended dishes. I would say it was equal parts 'awesome', 'neutral', 'wasn't a fan of'. The drinks were hit or miss. I got the vodka martini off the cocktail menu; it was 'not' good. Also, it arrived half empty/full, especially when sitting next to the off menu dirty martini ordered next to me. Which was full and so much better. The best things we had were the crudo, filet and the veal shank. The tomahawk was a complete letdown. The pastas were mediocre, which was disappointing for a high-end Italian restaurant. I ordered the blue lobster pasta, which had a bunch of shells, understandable, I guess, but the dish was just dry as a whole. It's almost like it was a baked dish. Very much needed an oil/fat added. We did have some really incredible bottles of red wine. *Chiantis and Cabernets

Literally our favorite restaurant so far in Austin. Love their bone Marrow risotto and Spaghelti al Nero di Seppia! What a shame that they are temporarily closed.
