After coming back from a trip to Asia, I was craving curry real bad and searched for a place that could make what we had over there. Tender melt-in-your-mouth beef chunks slow simmered in a flavorful curry base with rice. Simple, right? Wrong. We have gone to so many nyc restaurants in search of curry made with love and passion like we had in Asia. Sadly after Rasa, we are still on that hunt. The beef rendang was full of tough chunks of beef that took forever to chew and had no flavor. After the first bite, my boyfriend pushed his plate away in disgust. I still ate mine because I was hungry but we definitely didn’t get what we were looking for at all. Rendang beef is supposed to be super tender, that pot should be simmering for a few hours before the restaurant even opens for business. Or at least use a pressure cooker or something. That meat was so hard
Some of the best food I ever had and amazing service every time. Very attentive staff and food comes fast every time, even when we came with a party of 15. Kids eat happliy- they love the Malay wings and roti canai. Can't get enough of the basil beef and masaman curry.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had and our waiter was so kind.
The food was delicious, we had different meals, everything was great. The service was excellent!
Halal Malaysian been here twice and it’s amazing!! Everything I’ve had has been so good the broth, meat and even veggies! They have great milk chai as well. Everytime I’m in NYC this is a must eat - staff is also very helpful and kind. Be ready to tip extra tho as they say it’s required as a service charge.
Great little place near NYU! Amazing roti and curry dip. Usually not crowded and perfect for brunch
The main stuff: food was delicious, they really do curry right here. Tom yum soup goes crazy here. Very friendly staff What makes it 5 stars - your seat won’t be adjacent to other people to the point where conversations spill - good music at a reasonable volume - food comes QUICK
