Amazing to think I have been coming here over a decade and have not posted a review! This spot is more than a bar/grill. You are instantly welcomed by some of the friendliest folks in Austin. You can feel the burnt orange energy that it emanates. The generations of folks that have walked through it's doors. Grab a lone star and a double cheeseburger and enjoy the experience. Tell JV Chavez sent ya :-) Edit. I do not recommend this place any longer. Management has poor direction, the service is unfortunately not friendly anymore.
Some of the best people you’ll ever meet, and I put that salsa on everything I eat! There’s a reason they win at the Hot Sauce Festival year after year! Oh yeah, ice cold beer tops it off! Thanks y’all!
Went to Posse East several days ago with my girlfriend. I had been wanting to try it out ever since learning about it from its inclusion on a "best burgers in Austin" list. The vibe of Posse East definitely gives dive bar. They have tons of decorations on the walls that remind every patron that the University of Texas is in Austin. They also have a large bookcase full of books, which I really enjoyed since most dining establishments fail to show off a book collection. In terms of the food, I must say that the burger itself (we both ordered the 1/4 pound wagyu burger, but mine had tots while hers had French fries) was kind of a let down. It was very pink in the middle and the bun didn't really add anything to it. That being said, I thought the tater tots were fantastic. If you aren't combing the city searching for excellent burgers and you don't mind eating in a bar, then Posse East is probably a good choice for you.
We often hit up shows at Bass Concert Hall but this was the first time we planned to arrive early to grab some food & drinks ahead of time. Posse East was perfect spot. Not often you find a bar with a great kitchen. Will definitely be back. Tots were cooked perfectly, chicken sandwich was delicious and don't sleep on the queso.
