Having lived in New York, I thought I was a blintz expert. I have never had a blintz until I ate the ones here. Warm, crispy on the edges, rich cheese inside. I could eat them forever and ever.

Okay, so, this is the place to stop at. The cuisine is incredible. You’ll get the same feeling you do after eating THE home-cooked family recipe passed on for generations. The atmosphere is old, without sacrificing cleanliness, and very fitting for the head grandma in the kitchen. I got the cabbage soup, cucumber salad and pork schnitzel. Perfect balance. Savored each and every bite.

Il ristorante si trova nel quartiere polacco di Chicago, storica comunità est-europea della metropoli illinese. Il cibo è pura cucina tradizionale polacca, non ci si devono aspettare impiattamenti particolari o preparati occidentali/americani. Ho preso una cotoletta di maiale con patate e insalata, oltre a una zuppa di pomodoro. Devo dire tutto molto buono e genuino nella propria semplicità casereccia. La carne era magrissima (come espressamente richiesto) e molto tenera, le patate e la tipica salsa molto interessanti e la zuppa molto buona (ma se avete problemi di acidità, vi consiglio di evitarla). Il proprietario è stato cortese. Ho messo 4 stelle perché il locale è triste internamente, ha quasi l'aria di un ristorantino delle più sperdute e insignificanti province sovietiche. Ripeto, non troverete filetti alla rossini su piatti dorati e nemmeno un ristorante polacco interpretato in chiave moderna, bensì un posto tradizionale nell'accezione più ampia del termine.

Food and service is excellent. This place is a vibe.

Highly recommend getting the cabbage soup (just be aware there’s meat in it! The best part). Pricing is good here. It’s cash only so keep that in mind. There’s an atm across the street. The service was very friendly. A lady named Halina was fantastic. The menu isn’t as extensive as some of the other Polish restaurants, but has all the essentials.
