Decided to try Playa Pizza for the first time after driving by so many times, and reading quite a few positive reviews here on Yelp. Bottom line - it was ok, even pretty good, but definitely nothing special... aside from very good customer service, where credit must be given. We have a lot of food allergies in our family, so we simply do not eat out much (I do, but seldom with the family), so our decision to eat out or get takeout (as in this instance) is not taken lightly, and has to be worth the hassle of making sure we avoid allergens and cross-contamination. So first, the best part - 2 calls to Playa before ordering showed they really do care about taking care of their customers... in fact, I believe they said the owner is vegan, so she takes her ingredients and cross-contamination very seriously, which is much appreciated! Order 3 pizzas... first up, the carnivore, right off the menu (no special requirements... this was for me). It was pretty good, decent, chewy crust, and not soggy in the middle, like so many places, so a plus! Ingredients were pretty good... nothing really stood out, decent flavor, but not sure what was missing... but just nothing spectacular, but pretty good (I think I said that already). Next up... Hawaiian Five-O pizza. Standard toppings, but really appreciated that they acknowledged food allergens and said they'd use clean gloves and a freshly washed slicer, to avoid any cross-contamination. My daughter said it was "pretty good," but again, nothing spectacular. And lastly... my wife also ordered the Hawaiian, but with gluten-free crust and dairy-free cheese. it was very much appreciated that both options were available but, that being said, the crust was more like a flatbread cracker, mostly crunchy, and not very doughy. We fully realize GF is difficult sometimes, but we've had GF crusts locally that didn't sacrifice the essence of what pizza should taste (and feel) like. Toppings were fine, but it was a decided miss on the poor GF crust experience. My wife honestly said, in the future, she'd actually prefer her quick-n-easy usual go-to frozen GF/DF pizza to this offering. Not exactly a raving review. Overall, like I've said more than a few times here... pretty good, but not something we will probably do again, especially at $60 for 3 medium pizzas (not incl. tip). Dietary restrictions: VERY helpful and considerate of dietary restrictions, both serious food allergens and other food sensitivities, and very accommodating - kudos big time for that!
