A decent pub in Poway. Great hospitality and a nice list of beers to choose from, including several rotating taps. They have a good happy hour and a fish fry special menu on Fridays. That said, the food itself is kind of middle-of-the-road. The order of wings has a $3 celery and carrot stick add on, and as you can see in the photo, it’s pretty small for the price. The wings themselves were decent, though I liked the jalapeño poppers a bit more. They were pretty good. One very strange thing about the wing order is we asked for blue cheese. The dipping sauce they brought had a mild blue cheese flavor, but was extremely liquified and runny. One of the weirdest blue cheeses I’ve ever had. The cheeseburger was ok, but very small. They give a good portion of fries, however. The burger was just a bit dry and didn’t offer that much in the way of juiciness and flavor. I’d say to come for the brews, and maybe skip the food.
Great British Pub. Good food/sports like atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Good place for a party too.
Support local business! Keep these guys in town they're great!
It always annoys me when I go to English or Irish pubs that bedeck themselves in the trappings of the Old World, and then have nothing but pizza, wings, and burgers on the menu. This establishment is the genuine article which offers well crafted pub standards of the Old World. My personal favorites are the fish and chips, black pudding, and steak and kidney pie. I defy you to try to find a better steak and kidney pie on this side of the pond. Incidentally, they are currently besieged by a soulless corporate landlord which is all the more reason to support this fine family owned establishment.
The fish and chips were excellent!
Big pieces of fish. Big fries. Fresh coleslaw. All good. Only thing that was less than great was the tarter sauce. Came in on a Friday night, and the place was packed. Got my food in 20 minutes, exactly what they said it would be. Live music was a nice touch. If it wasn't in Sabre Springs and the patrons and staff weren't as diverse, you might actually believe you were somewhere in the UK
Went there after a soccer game. Had great live music. The food and atmosphere is fantastic. The wait staff is great and knowledgeable. Kid-friendliness: Great kids menu
I love this place! Except that they are closed on saturdays, which is basically the only day I have time to go here. Wish they had a better schedule.
