Phở Huy Restaurant

My mom and I went there as soon as they opened. There was no one but us. An old lady came to us and looked so angry at us. She didn't even say anything but was pointing at the table that we had to go sit. She was wearing gloves wiping down tables and with the same gloves she served food. I said good morning to her and she finally said good morning. Never heard her voice after that. Very unkind and I will never go back to the place! Also, the food was not that good either.

They overcharged me for just one fried rice and were very rude on the phone. When I asked about the charge they made up some excuse. The menu says one thing & the total came out to another.

If you are looking for a delicious and authentic taste of Vietnam, look no further. The entire staff, including kitchen staff, is Vietnamese. Also, they keep it nice and cold inside so even on a hot day the pho hits just right.

Lots of seating in the restaurant so even when it was busy, my boyfriend and I were still able to get a table right away and order. We got the large Pho Tai Nam Gau (eye round steak, well done flank, and brisket) and it came out within 3 minutes after we placed our order so that was super nice. The pho was good overall! I’ve tasted better soup broths at other places but I still thoroughly enjoyed the dish. The star of the show was their Banh Mi though. We got the Banh Mi Thit Nuong (charcoal grilled pork). The french bread was crispy on the outside and soft which made the sandwich much easier to eat. I’ve had Bahn Mi’s in the past where the bread is so hard to bite through that it’s a whole jaw workout lol- but thankfully this spot doens’t have that problem. But the pork was flavorful and had that perfectly grilled charcoal taste that made the taste amazing. And with the pickled veggies, cilantro, jalapeno, and mayo, this sandwhich is a must get if you come. And to top it all off, we got their Cafe Sua Da (Vietnamese coffee) and I enjoyed every sip! This is a nice spot to eat if you’re in the Gessner area and craving Vietnamese food! I can’t wait to come back and try their other dishes.

The food is ok, but unfortunately, I've noticed people working in the back and at the register with the food with their hands, no gloves. A guy was working the cash register cutting vegetables with outdoor gloves (look like for skiing) receiving money and touching food with the same. Yuk! Vegetarian options: n.a
