If you had to choose one item off their extensive menu to get, get The Burger and thank me later.
Always a good time here. And I think possibly the best burger in Vancouver
Great place for food n drinks! Quite a bit on the pricier side but it was a good experience!
This restaurant is devine. Fantastic food, ambience and service is top of the line. I absolutely love the vibe and interior design here. The food is high quality in presentation, ingredients and flavour. Cocktails are very elevated and they have many unique options, something for everyone. I love that you can come here for a fancy occasion or just a nice dinner/lunch with a friend. Only warning is the Caesar salad probably isnt for everyone. A bit too fishy for my liking but other people may prefer this. Overall I love coming here and can’t wait to come back!
Ambiance was great and the service was world class. The food however was the worst Italian food I’ve ever had. The Caesar salad was worse than what you’d get at an airport. It had no dressing and no cheese and 4 ancient and awful croutons. It was embarrassing if were served this at a fast food restaurant. When I got extra dressing, it was flavourless and bland. The rigatoni bolognese was a brilliant noodle assaulted with salt and other nastiness served with some rubbery overspiced meat. Easily the worst Italian meal I’ve ever had, which is a shame because the staff were all amazing and the resto was lovely. The kitchen staff all need to be replaced or this place needs to close. I’m not exaggerating. Italian food is easy to make decently - a child can make pasta. Per se made something worse than an airport, worse than a child, worse than anything I’ve ever had.
We were really excited to try this place. Me because of their gluten free options and my partner because of their interesting cocktail list and she is on a mission to find the best burger in town. Verdict: meh. can’t say we’d recommend or go back. Pros: We arrived about 20 mins before our reso and were sat right away. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful. Ambiance is lively, so good for a Saturday night. Cons: our first round of drinks took quite a while to hit the table. Oh well. Our pizza we ordered as a appie took about 45 mins to hit the table…. Which was not a big deal on a busy Saturday except for how the night ended (see below) Pizza was tasty but judging by my stomach the next day and the consistency, it definitely wasn’t gluten free like we’d ordered. The (manager? Maître d?) was a bit odd. Circling tables constantly, lingering a bit too long, a bit too close, it was off putting & uncomfortable to watch. I ordered the sablefish and risotto. Sablefish was delicious but risotto was underwhelming - it had separated (was more like rice in a pool of cheese sauce). I could have made a better one myself but I‘m too polite to complain, just happy to be on a date night. My Partner says the Burger was good, but definitely not the best in town - in total there were 4 hard chunks of cartilage in the patty. Crunch. Ew. And it was under seasoned unless you got a bite with the onion relish or fois gras. Cocktails were good but not as stellar as they looked on the page. Overall it was fine but not as good as we thought it would be, having received a Michelin recommendation (maybe they’ve rested on their laurels since then?). The real turn off was finishing dinner, they took my partner’s plate AND HER DRINK (which was half full - frustrating, but she was just going to order another one). We quickly figured out why they took her drink….. The waiter came over and as I asked about a dessert cocktail - he said ‘it’s really sweet’ BUT that we’d reached the 90 minute allotted time for our table and we’d have to wrap it up so they could turn the table over. (This is where the pizza taking 45mins to arrive became a little unfair. Plus - This policy was not made clear when I made the reso weeks ago, nor in the email or text reminders, nor did the hostess mention it when we were sat.) We weren’t offered a dessert menu. We were brought the bill and a complimentary limoncello as a consolation prize and that was the unceremonious ending to our night. We are two professionals in our fun-40’s so money isn’t an issue at all, but when you spend $300 on a pizza, a burger, a few drinks and some runny risotto and are put out on the street so that the annoyed 20 somethings waiting on the heated patio can have your table - yeah NO. There’s just too many better bars in the city (Botanist, Laowei, the keefer, Pourhouse), and better burgers (Hawksworth, Pourhouse) that won’t punt you lol.
The food was amazing, my favourite was the Rigatone Bolognese, it is simply amazing. If you like chocolate, try their Nutella Pizza. Servers were attentive, and the space is grand.
Wow. The burger is on another level. It's expensive but if you're poor, just say you're poor. My guy Luis was an excellent server. He asked if I wanted a paper menu, which is a good burn, but go to hell man. I noticed the napkins were pretty soft.
Good spot, looks great, is good, worth checking out.
