Try the tacos with goat barbacoa, TECATE BATTERED ROCK COD, and happy hour drinks from Monday to Thursday 5-6pm. Go for Padrecito cocktail (Mezcal tequila, lime and agave) complete with dessert Flan de Queso
Double standard about seating policy: my wife was denied seating while I was looking for (street) parking, despite of half-empty restaurant/no waiting list. However, couple of regulars were came in, they have been given a table, ordered, while the rest of their party was showing up much later. Food was tasty, some of those dishes were over spiced to my taste despite I like spicy foods. Food selection was significantly outnumbered by hard liquors and cocktails, making me think that the establishment is predominantly a drinking one. Vegetarian options: One or two main courses, salads, one of those was with seasonal heirloom tomatoes. Kid-friendliness: Had kids' high chairs for regulars. Not so friendly because menu didn't have smaller kids' portions but they could share tacos, for example
I’d give 4-5 stars for just food and drinks since that was definitely delicious. Ordered the pancakes and chilaquiles (pictured), chips and salsa which were yum, and a marg. Reason for the 3 star is I have a service dog with me and the manager (or one of the staff) came up to explain to me that the dog needs to not bark, not be in the aisle, on the ground, etc. My service dog was not making any noise, not in the aisle, and I placed her on the ground once he asked. He was incredibly offensive and rude (you can tell he just wanted to make it known that he wanted to remove the dog if any small thing were to occur). I’ve not had a single experience like this in SF where the manager or staff comes at me in that way. Totally fine if you want to let me know to place the dog on the ground (it was more conducive to have her in the booth since there was no room at my feet, super small table) but drop the attitude and ego.
We have been coming to padrecito (and mamacita previously) for 10+ years and have loved the food. We moved across town and still drive the 20 min in each direction for the food, it is that good! Tonight we had a meal that missed the spot, but I wanted to share with all that Andrea the manager went above and beyond to make it right which speaks highly to the pride they have in their food. We will be coming back and I look forward to many more years of delicious Mexican food!
Nice upscale Mexican food and drinks.
