Oren's Hummus

Oren’s in Burlingame is inside the Noshery location and they have Melt and one or two other food chains. So it is not a stand alone location and the shared kitchen is less than ideal in terms of freshness

I was so excited to hear about Oren's opening up in San Mateo as I love the Palo Alto restaurant as well as Oren's Express. The execution at this location though was severely lacking. They were out of both their green and red hot sauces which was a disappointment as they're part of what makes Oren's unique. The Israeli salad was completely unseasoned. No salt, lemon juice, tahini, nothing. Just chopped vegetables. The pitas were soft and pillowy as normal so that was a relief but they came out burning lava hot so it seemed clear to me that they had just been microwaved and sent out. I think that's more of a minor complaint. For $26 with tax and tip I was really expecting more out of the experience.

They have the smoothest and most delicious hummus ! And also the pita is so soft, it pairs perfectly with hummus. My all time favourite place.

This particular Oren’s Hummus is located inside the Noshery Food Hall. The location is convenient and nearby other bars and food spots. The atmosphere was okay. I found it too much with the bright lights and fake grass. They do allow dogs and will provide your dog a water bottle and lots of biscuits. The food was incredibly disappointing. This does not compare to any of the actual restaurant locations. The portions were small compared to the actual restaurants and the prices were similar to the actual restaurants. The hummus was dense and not creamy. The beef rice bowl had beef meat balls that were dry and bland, the rice was also lacking flavor. Both came out in takeout containers, so that makes me suspicious that these could have been prepared in advanced then warmed for us. The falafels were dense and dry, but flavor packed. The baba ghanosh was pre-packed in official packaging with labeling, which I expected, as the kiosk showed that. This was okay as well, I wasn’t expecting it to be restaurant quality, but thought it would be better. The pita itself was the best part, it was warm and delicious. My partner and I ordered extra to have for leftovers, and we ended up tossing everything. Overall, I wouldn’t come back, I’d make the extra trek to go to an actual restaurant location.
